Woman Gets Pain Relief Prescription From Bumble Match. See Post

Finding love in the digital age can be a challenge. Dating apps expose us to a wider range of people, but with so many options, true connections feel harder to find.  However, there's always hope! A woman recently shared a heartwarming story on X (formerly Twitter) about her positive experience on dating app Bumble.

It all started with a match with an orthopaedic specialist. When she mentioned suffering from shoulder and neck pain, he didn't stop at just prescribing medication. This kind-hearted doctor went the extra mile, offering valuable advice to help her prevent future discomfort.

The prescription says "Take tab Mobizox 1-0-0 x 7 days (after food). Tab Pan-40 mg 1-0-0 x 7 days (before food)." Additionally, he recommended "Ointment Flexabenz" for her, telling her to apply it in a single layer rather than rubbing it in.

"Apply hot packs too. Maintain posture care," he further said.

Sharing the screenshot from a chat with the orthopaedic specialist, Saniya Dhawan on X wrote, "Matched with an Ortho doctor on Bumble and randomly told him that I am experiencing neck and shoulder pain. He asked me some questions around it and then wrote me a prescription, this is so sweet."

See the post here:

The post quickly went viral and garnered over 2 lakh views on the platform.

A user wrote, "First date: Physical therapy Gifts: Resistance band, foam roller, hot and cold pack. Setting will be public enough for safety (hospital or practicing clinic), private enough to get know each other. Damn, the perfect occupation."

Another user wrote, "Getting to your heart through your bones."

"I like how Pan 40 finds its way in every prescription. Its like Gems for Medicine world," the third user joked.

"Wow i screen-shoted this, cos i can use it for my neck pain too...convey my thanks to him too," the fourth user wrote.

"Make sure you get the X-ray of your Cervical Bone in neck. Sometimes neck and shoulder pain is because of the cervical bone straightening," the fifth user suggested.

Electoral Bonds Data A Setback To BJP? What PM Modi Said

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday rejected the suggestion that the electoral bond issue caused a setback to his government, saying no system is perfect and any shortcoming could be improved upon.

He also said those who are "dancing" over the matter will repent it.

"Tell me what have we done that I should see it as a setback? I firmly believe that those dancing over it (bond details) and taking pride in it are going to repent," he told Thanthi TV in an interview when asked if the electoral bond details have caused a setback to the ruling BJP.

The Prime Minister said it is due to the electoral bond system put in by his government that the sources of funding and its beneficiaries could be found out.

If a trail is available today, it is because of the presence of bonds, he said, asking if any agency can tell about the sources of funding and their beneficiaries for the polls before 2014, the year he came to power.

"No system is perfect. There can be shortcomings which could be improved upon," he said.

Opposition parties have cited the revelations following the Supreme Court order, which brought all information related to electoral bonds in public domain while terming the anonymous funding practice unconstitutional, to attack the government.

Many firms facing criminal probes have turned out to be big buyers of these bonds.

In the interview, PM Modi asserted that one should not see politics in everything he does, saying that he works for the country and Tamil Nadu is its big strength.

If votes were his main concern, then he would not have done so much for the northeast states, the prime minister said, noting that his government ministers have visited the region for over 150 times and he himself has gone there more times than all other prime ministers together have.

"Just because I am a politician does not mean I work only to win elections. Tamil Nadu has huge potential which must not be wasted," he said.

The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance connects different sections of society and represents aspirations of people, he said, adding that the votes it will received in Tamil Nadu will not be anti-DMK but pro-BJP.

He said, "People have witnessed the works we have done over the past 10 years. Tamil Nadu has decided that this time it will be the BJP-NDA." The BJP worked for Tamil Nadu even when it did not have a single municipal candidate there, he said.

PM Modi also praised Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai, saying he is attracting the youth. They think if money and corruption were the motivations for him, then he could have joined the DMK, the prime minister said.

"Viksit Bharat means that every corner of the country should be a recipient of development. I believe that Tamil Nadu has the potential to become the driving force behind our dream of a Viksit Bharat," he said.

PM Modi regretted the politicisation of Tamil language, a swipe at opposition parties which have often accused the BJP of undermining regional languages, and said as the state's cuisine has been globalised, its dialect should be similarly promoted.

"The politicisation of the Tamil language has been detrimental not only to Tamil Nadu but also to the country," he said.

8,000-Page Chargesheet Filed In NewsClick Case, Founder Named As Accused

The Delhi Police on Saturday filed its first chargesheet, spread across about 8,000 pages, in the UAPA case against NewsClick and its founder Prabir Purkayastha for allegedly pushing Chinese propaganda, naming him and the firm owning the portal as accused.

The final report was filed by the Delhi Police Special Cell before Additional Sessions Judge Hardeep Kaur.

According to special public prosecutors, Akhand Pratap Singh and Suraj Rathi, the chargesheet names Mr Purkayastha and PPK NEWSCLICK Studio Private Limited as accused.

Court sources said the chargesheet contains over 8,000 pages, including annexures. The matter has been posted for further proceedings on April 16.

The court granted extensions to the Delhi Police to file the chargesheet, first in December last year and then in February this year. Later, on March 20, it again extended the time required to file the final report by 10 days after noting the submissions of the public prosecutors.

Section 43 D of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) extends the time required to complete the investigation from 90 days to up to 180 days.

The Delhi Police Special Cell had last year registered a case under sections 13, 16, 17, 18 and 22 of the UAPA along with sections 153A (promoting enmity between groups) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code in the matter.

It also arrested NewsClick's founder Prabir Purkayastha and Human Resources head Amit Chakravarty on October 3, 2023.

In January this year, the present court allowed Mr Chakravarty's application seeking the court's permission to turn approver.

Man Spreads Rumour On 'Lockdown For Tampering With EVMs', Arrested

The Kerala police on Friday arrested a man who allegedly spread false propaganda on social media that a lockdown would be declared in the country for three weeks to tamper with electronic voting machines (EVMs).

The State Police Media Cell in a statement said that the arrested man, MV Sharafuddin, hails from Malappuram district of the state.

The man had allegedly shared on social media a screenshot of a news story published during the Covid-19 lockdown as part of his propaganda, police said.

This was discovered during a social media patrol conducted by the Kochi Cyberdome branch of Kerala police, the statement said.

It also said that social media monitoring cells have been formed at cyber police headquarters, all ranges and all police districts under the leadership of the cyber division to detect those who are posting and spreading false news on social media in view of the coming Lok Sabha elections in the state on April 26.

Watch: Malinga Leaves Chair For Hardik Pandya, Walks Away. Internet Reacts

Nothing seems to be going in Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Hardik Pandya's favour as the franchise suffered their second defeat in as many games of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match on Wednesday. After a narrow defeat to Gujarat Titans (GT) in their season opener, MI were comprehensively beaten at the expense of SRH, with the hosts registering the biggest-ever team total in the history of the IPL. SRH posted 277-3 to beat MI by 31 runs in a six-hitting festival at the Uppal Stadium. While Hardik has been under the scanner for his captaincy, a video has emerged on social media, claiming that bowling coach Lasith Malinga ignored the MI captain, who went on to sit beside an agitated Kieron Pollard.

The video was shared by several users on social media platform on X.

SRH opener Travis Head (62 off 24) and number three Abhishek Sharma (63 off 23) came up with a sensational display of power-hitting that saw the latter snatching the franchise record for the fastest fifty from the Australian within minutes.

Heinrich Klaasen (80 not out off 34 balls) provided the fireworks in the end to help SRH break an 11-year-old record. The previous highest total in IPL was 263 for five achieved by Royal Challengers Bangalore back in 2013. It was also the highest total recorded in a T20 league.

Mumbai bowlers were left shell-shocked by SRH's six-hitting spree but their batters came out with a purpose and made a match out of what looked like a one way traffic at the innings break.

Eventually, they ended at 246 for five in 20 overs.

A record 38 sixes were plundered in the game and it was the first time 500 runs were scored in a T20 match.

"The wicket was good but 277, no matter how good or bad you bowl, if the opposition get 277 that means they batted very well. It was tough out there for bowlers. Close to 500 runs were scored so the wicket was helping the batters," Hardik said after the match.

"Questions For You": M Kharge Counters PM's "Browbeat and Bully" Comment

Congress's Mallikarjun Kharge issued a strong rebuttal this evening to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's comment that "To browbeat and bully others is vintage Congress culture". In a statement that started with a mild "it is not proper form for the PM to comment on our judiciary", the Congress chief went on to ask four pointed questions and accused the Prime Minister of being "personally responsible" for "usurping" the powers of institutions and "weakening our country".

What drew the Congress chief's rejoinder was a blistering post by PM Modi earlier today after 600 lawyers wrote to Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, alleging attempts by "a vested interest group" to undermine the judiciary's integrity and defame courts.

"To browbeat and bully others is vintage Congress culture. Five decades ago, they itself had called for a 'committed judiciary' - they shamelessly want commitment from others for their selfish interests, but desist from any commitment towards the nation," PM Modi said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

Later in the evening, the Congress chief, in his statement posted on X, "As you consider India's institutions to be your personal property, I have some questions for you".

The first question pertained to an unprecedented press conference in January 2018 by four judges of the Supreme Court, who went public with their complaints against the then Chief Justice of India, Dipak Misra. An independent judiciary is essential for a functioning democracy, the judges had said.

"Why was one of the judges nominated by your Govt to the Rajya Sabha?" he asked next, refering to the unprecedented Upper House nomination of former Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi in 2020. The recommendation by then President of India Ram Nath Kovind is unprecedented – till then, no Chief Justice had been nominated to the Upper House by the head of the state.

"Why has your party fielded a former high court judge from West Bengal for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections?" Mr Kharge has also asked, referring to the former Calcutta High Court judge Abhijeet Gangopadhyay, whose move into electoral politics has raised eyebrows.

Mr Kharge also questioned why the government brought the National Judicial Appointments Commission (NJAC) that was struck down by the Supreme Court. The Congress, though, had supported the constitutional amendment bill in parliament.

The letter by over 600 lawyers, including veteran advocate Harish Salve and Bar Council chairperson Manan Kumar Mishra, alleged that the vested interest group is putting pressure on the judiciary, especially in cases of corruption involving political leaders.

The letter also targeted a section of lawyers without naming them and alleged they defend politicians by day and then try to influence judges through the media at night.

Refering to the letter, Union minister Kiren Rijiju posted on X that "sane voices" are coming out now. "These Congress people coined the concept of committed judiciary and suspended Indian Constitution. The Congress and leftists want courts and constitutional authorities to serve them or else they immediately start attacking the very institutions," his post read.

"People Scared To Talk": Mahua Moitra's Royal Rival Cites Law And Order

Amrita Roy, the erstwhile royal of Bengal's Krishnagar who will take on Trinamool Congress's Mahua Moitra, told NDTV today that given the law and order situation in the state, she thought she had a role to play.

Citing the recent allegations of land grab and sexual harassment emanating from Sandeshkhali against Trinammol Congress strongman Sheikh Shahjahan, she told NDTV in an exclusive interview that such events happen every other day.

"Some things are coming out. Other things are being kept under wraps... So I feel that I have a big role to play... this cannot go on," she told NDTV.

"People are scared to come out or talk... in case they get a bad name. They are being deprived of their fundamental right," she added.

The idea of contesting, though, was of the BJP, which had approached her, she told NDTV. She said though she had been apolitical all her life, she had accepted "since it was a good platform".

The BJP, which is hoping to win at least 25 of the state's 42 seats, is focusing on woman power this time.

With Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress said to be backed by the state's women, the BJP is hoping its women candidates would help it expand its footprint in the state.

Ms Roy is facing Mahua Moitra, the sitting MP from Trinamool till she was disqualified by a Parliamentary Ethics Committee over the alleged cash-for questions controversy earlier this year.

In a huge show of support for Ms Moitra, the party has fielded her from Krishnanagar again, expressing confidence that she would be re-elected.

Asked about senior BJP leader Dilip Ghosh's remarks about Mamata Banerjee -- over which he has received a showcause notice from the Election Commission --  Ms Roy said,  "In politics, many things can be misinterpreted. You should be a little cautious," she said.

"Didi goes to Goa and says, 'I am Goa's daughter'... goes to Tripura and says, 'Am Tripura's daughter'. Decide who your father is. It is not good to be just anybody's daughter," Dilip Ghosh had said – words that have even been slammed by his own party.

BJP Welcoming Tainted Leaders? "Doors Open For All," Says Finance Minister

All major political parties encashed electoral bonds and nobody has a moral authority to say anything as it was legal and according to law, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said.

She also said that given the Supreme Court's judgment against electoral bonds, more debate is needed to find a better system for electoral funding.

The minister said the law, now scrapped by the top court, was passed by parliament and the bonds were purchased as per the prevailing law of the time.

"It was passed by parliament and based on the law, bonds were bought and encashed by all parties but one... Everyone has received from everybody. Every donor has given to everybody.

"The very party which now says this is a scam, this is a scandal, had also taken money through the bonds. Tell me what moral authority anyone has to speak because it was the law then... it went lawfully. It was a step better than what prevailed earlier," Ms Sitharaman said.

On what the new government can do in this regard, she said there is a need to understand how to better the system, which has now been rejected.

The system of electoral bonds was still better than the previous system, "which is what we've gone back to now. We need to do something better, but a lot more work is required", she added.

Last month, a five-judge Supreme Court bench, headed by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, said the electoral bonds scheme violates the right to information and the freedom of speech and expression under the Constitution.

She also dismissed the allegations of connections between the Enforcement Directorate's raids and bond purchases, stating that even companies that donated to the BJP through electoral bonds were raided.

"ED raids still happened. It did not give them (companies) any immunity," she added.

The minister added that the law enforcement agencies are not acting with any political agenda as the law pursues those who disobey it.

"Stop making political arguments over them," Ms Sitharaman said.

Asked why the BJP is welcoming tainted politicians, she said the "doors are open for all".

"If people see work happening... and a party is making a difference, they obviously would want to come and join. But the BJP has value systems and the way in which the party runs under certain leadership. I don't think there is ever a compromise on that," she said.

Replying to a question on Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate's remarks against BJP Lok Sabha candidate Kangana Ranaut, she said it is "outrageous" and "abhorrent".

Ms Shrinate should have tendered an unconditional apology, she added.

A controversial comment was posted on social media platforms from Congress leader Shrinate's accounts about Kangana Ranaut, the actor fielded by the BJP from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh.

Following a row, Ms Shrinate removed the post and said that it was not posted by her but by someone who had access to her accounts.

The Finance Minister refused to call the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal a case of political vendetta.

The Delhi Chief Minister had not complied with several ED summonses, she said, adding that governance has gone down the drain in Delhi and Punjab - the two states where the AAP is in power.

Cyber Attack, Israel, WW3: US Bridge Collapse Sparks Conspiracy Theories

Conspiracy theorists said Tuesday that the Baltimore bridge collapse resulted from an intentional attack -- despite officials quickly saying there was no evidence for that.

Hours after a container ship struck the Francis Scott Key Bridge, sending vehicles and people plunging into the US city's frigid harbor, users across X and other platforms blamed everything from terrorists to Israel.

Among the most widespread posts came from influencer Andrew Tate, who told his nine million followers on X that the 300-meter vessel "was cyber-attacked."

"Lights go off and it deliberately steers towards the bridge support," the US-born Briton said. "Foreign agents of the USA attack digital infrastructures. Nothing is safe."

InfoWars founder Alex Jones, found liable in multiple defamation lawsuits for claiming the 2012 Sandy Hook elementary school mass shooting was a hoax, reposted the allegation.

"Looks deliberate to me," he said. "A cyber-attack is probable. WW3 has already started."

There was no immediate confirmation of the cause of the collapse, but Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley said there was no indication of terrorism.

Footage appeared to show the ship going dark twice in the moments before the collision, and Maryland Governor Wes Moore said during a press conference Tuesday that "the crew notified authorities of a power issue."

Moore added that officials had not seen "any credible evidence of a terrorist attack." Bill DelBagno, special agent in charge of the FBI's Baltimore field office, also said there was no evidence of terrorism.

Those assurances have not stopped the deluge of rumors on X, where some accounts are linking the tragedy to the United States' abstention in a UN Security Council vote calling for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza war.

"Did Israel just hit the US over not using the Veto power yesterday??" one account said in a post with thousands of interactions.

Others blamed the bridge collapse on the Islamic State group or corporate diversity initiatives that have become a flashpoint ahead of the US presidential election, while suggestions of a "false flag" populated the most conspiratorial pages.

Synergy Marine Group, the managers of the Singapore-flagged Dali container ship controlled by two Baltimore port pilots at the time of the collision, said the cause of the crash has yet to be determined. None of the crew were injured.

Violence-Hit Manipur's Mega 5-Day Holi Muted, Colourless This Year

Violence-hit Manipur saw a muted Holi, or Yaosang, this year. One of the biggest festivals of the Meitei community, a majority of them Hindus, its scale is such that the Meiteis celebrate Yaosang for five days. The celebrations are dominated by community sports events such as football, marathon, volleyball, etc which comes naturally in the state that has given world champion athletes despite its relatively small population.

With over 50,000 people including members of the Kuki-Zo tribes internally displaced across the state and living in harsh conditions in relief camps, the Meitei community has held back on celebrating the spring festival of colours this year.

"A symbolic Yaosang is what the Meitei people want. The festivities may be done away with this year. But Yaosang marks the coming of spring, of being together, of generosity and community work," Elizabeth Kh, a social sector professional from Manipur, told NDTV.

Yaosang is especially popular with children. Every year, they wait patiently for Yaosang to arrive so they could participate in their favourite segment of the festival on the first day of the celebrations, which they call "nakatheng". The children dressed in their finest clothes walk from door to door in their neighbourhood and give blessings to adults, who would be waiting for them. In return, the children get loose change that they use to buy sweets and share among themselves.

The Meiteis also did not celebrate another big festival, Ningol Chakouba, last year. Ningol Chakouba, which comes after Diwali, is similar to Bhai Dooj except that in Manipur it is the brothers who welcome their sisters from their matrimonial homes for a grand feast.

The Kuki-Zo tribes, too, had a Christmas of gloom last year as people struggled to survive with basic needs in hill towns that are cut off from the state capital Imphal.

Some neighbourhoods, or leikais, in Imphal valley did mark the arrival of spring and Yaosang by burning straw huts, a ritual similar to making a bonfire in the evening before or on Holi in other states. Though civil society organisations have requested people not to celebrate Yaosang at a time when thousands have been living in relief camps for 10 months, others have said the community should celebrate the festival with those living in the camps.

"Yaosang makes businesses flourish. Small shops and traders will benefit, while people who have been under mental strain due to the violence will get to calm their mind with enjoyable activity. Children need to be happy, despite the circumstances we are in. We need to be practical about this matter," Kaito W, a researcher who has done PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology, told NDTV.

Imphal resident Bikramjit RK, who went to the Bijoy Govinda temple today to see how Yaosang would turn out this year, said he hasn't seen a "darkest period" as the one Manipur is going through.

"Staying alive is good enough I feel nowadays. The people of Manipur have lost their livelihoods. We are affected in all ways - education, economic... Yaosang is an important festival. It's not just a festival of colours for us; it's also a time of celebrations and sports events when local clubs organise events and competitions, and encourage young people to take up sports," Mr Rajkumar, 28, who works at a private firm, told NDTV on phone from Imphal.

"The central government has not taken up any step proactively to bring normalcy in Manipur. The silence of the Prime Minister shows how neglected we the people of Manipur are," he added.

Members of the Meitei community, a majority of whom are Hindus, offer prayers on the first day of the five-day Yaosang, or Holi (File)

Those who want to celebrate Yaosang also say the festival will give brisk business to small shops that have been gathering dust and losses for the past few months. The same sentiment was strong during last year's Ningol Chakouba. They say the return of some semblance of economic activity would be one of the first important steps towards bringing normalcy.

But the call by civil society groups and influential individuals to keep the celebrations to a minimum or not celebrate at all appears to have found acceptance among a large section of the Meiteis, according to William Meitei, a sports consultant and talent scout.

"The decision to abstain from Holi celebrations in Manipur is a solemn recognition of the gravity of the situation, and a powerful display of solidarity with those affected by the violence. Holi in Manipur spans over five days, featuring not just festivities, but also sports events that instil a winning attitude from a young age, contributing to Manipur's status as a sports powerhouse," Mr Meitei told NDTV.

"Amid the struggles faced by the Meitei people and the pressing issues of displacement, illegal activities, and cultural integrity, celebrating festivals seems inappropriate," he added.

Another Imphal resident, Athokpam Shanta Devi, said her generation grew up with sweet memories of Holi, but it is the first time in her life that she saw such a silent and colourless Holi. "It is a poignant reminder of the situation in Manipur. It was a dark Diwali last year, and now a colourless Holi for Manipur. I request the central government to intervene immediately and restore normalcy," said Ms Devi, 42.

For Laikangbam Reeta, who lives in Delhi, going to Manipur during Yaosang was the most anticipated event. "My daughter's school exam got over, and it is usually the time I go to Manipur to celebrate Holi with my family at home. This time I have cancelled my trip," Ms Reeta told NDTV.

Manipur BJP MLA Rajkumar Imo Singh in a post on the microblogging website X wished Holi greetings, but accepted the festival won't be loud this year. "Wishing everyone on the auspicious occasion of Yaoshang. Though there won't be much celebration in Manipur, I hope that it brings happiness and prosperity amongst you all. Happy Holi," he said.

The Manipur ethnic violence broke out between the Kuki-Zo tribes and the Meiteis in May 2023 over cataclysmic disagreements on sharing land, resources, political representation, and affirmative action policies. Over 200 have died in the clashes, and thousands have been internally displaced. The Kuki-Zo tribes are a majority in the hill areas in southern Manipur and a few other districts, while the Meiteis are a majority in the valley areas.

Hemant Soren's Sister-In-Law Is BJP's Pick For Jharkhand's Dumka Seat

The BJP announced the names of three candidates in Jharkhand, including Sita Soren - former JMM MLA and sister-in-law of former Chief Minister Hemant Soren - from Dumka (ST) constituency.

The party on March 2 announced that sitting MP Sunil Soren, who had defeated JMM president Shibu Soren in the 2019 polls by a margin of 47,590 votes, will seek re-election from Dumka.

In a blow to the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, three-term MLA and elder daughter-in-law of party patriarch Shibu Soren, Sita Soren joined the BJP on March 20 citing "isolation" and "neglect" by JMM since the death of her husband Durga Soren in 2009.

Dumka will go to polls on June 1.

In the two other seats of Chatra and Dhanbad, Kalicharan Singh and Dulu Mahato will contest respectively, the party announced.

In Chatra, the BJP reposed faith in Kalicharan Singh denying a ticket to the sitting MP Sunil Kumar Singh who won by a margin of 3.77 lakh votes. In Dhanbad too, the party dropped sitting MP Pashupati Nath Singh who has been representing the seat since 2009 and fielded Baghmara MLA Dulu Mahato.

Mr Mahato became an MLA in 2009 on the ticket of Jharkhand Vikash Morcha (JVM) of former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi. The man who has more than two dozen cases against him joined BJP in 2014.

Voting will be held in Chatra and Dhanbad on May 20 and May 25 respectively.

The BJP in its first list of Lok Sabha election candidates had named 11 nominees from Jharkhand including four new candidates - former Congress parliamentarian Geeta Kora (Singhbhum ST constituency), Rajya Sabha MP Samir Oraon, Tala Marandi and Manish Jaiswal.

The seven other candidates, announced earlier, will seek re-election from their respective constituencies. They include Union ministers Arjun Munda (Khunti ST) and Annapurna Devi (Koderma).

There are 14 parliamentary constituencies in Jharkhand and as per the seat-sharing arrangement between the BJP and the AJSU Party, the Giridih seat has been left for the AJSU Party.

At present, Giridih is represented by AJSU Party's Chandra Prakash Chaudhary.

"Was Trolled For Shifting In Chair During Hearing": Chief Justice Chandrachud

Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud recalled a recent incident when he faced "trolling" and "vicious abuse" for adjusting his seating during a hearing and highlighted the need for judicial officers to manage stress and ensure a work-life balance.

He was speaking after inaugurating the 21st Biennial State Level Conference of Judicial Officers titled, "Equity and Excellence for Futuristic Judiciary", organised by the Karnataka State Judicial Officer's Association.

Speaking on work-life balance and stress management - one of the topics of the two-day conference, he said the capacity to manage stress is significant in the life of a judge, especially for district judges.

As judicial officers, they regularly engage with vulnerable litigants. Many of the people who come to the courts are stressed about the injustice caused to them, he said.

"Sometimes in their dealings with us as judges, they cross a line. As Chief Justice of India, I see so many lawyers and litigants crossing the line when they speak to us in court. The answer when these litigants cross a line is not to use the power of contempt (of court), but to understand why they have crossed the line," Justice Chandrachud said.

He said there must be some deep-rooted injustice that the lawyers and their clients were confronting, which is why they sometimes utter things they otherwise would not say.

"In these cases, the responsibility you carry is immense, necessitating a calm and compassionate approach. Maintaining a work-life balance is integral to fulfilling these duties effectively," he advised the judicial officers.

A judge who was overwhelmed with work and unable to prioritise personal time with family and self-care may struggle to perform optimally, Justice Chandrachud said.

"The ability to manage stress and achieve work-life balance is not separate from but rather intertwined with delivering justice completely. We often tell physicians and surgeons, "Heal thyself". Before you heal others, you must learn how to heal yourself. The same is true about judges as well," he said.

The CJI shared a recent personal experience.

He said he was trolled recently based on the live-streaming of an important hearing.

"Just four or five days ago when I was hearing a case, I had a little pain in my back. All I did was place my elbows in my armchair in the court and shift my position in the chair," Justice Chandrachud said.

He said several comments on social media alleged that the Chief Justice of India is "so arrogant" that he got up in the middle of an important argument in court.

"What they didn't tell you was that all I did was only shift my position in the chair. Twenty four years of judging can be a little strenuous which I have put in. I didn't leave the court. I only shifted my position but I was subject to vicious abuse and trolling. The knives were out but I do believe that our shoulders are broad enough and the ultimate confidence we have is of common citizens' in the work we do,” he noted.

The judges in the Taluk level courts do not have protection which the judges in the Supreme Court and High Courts enjoy.

He recalled an incident where a young civil judge of a junior division was threatened by a member of the bar that if he did not behave with him properly then he would get him transferred.

The CJI said when he was the Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court, he constantly heard about how young, middle-level, and senior-level judges were treated.

"You (judicial officers in Karnataka) are blessed to belong to a state where these stories are only heard about and not witnessed during your day-to-day work," he noted.

The CJI hailed the judiciary in Karnataka for the speedy disposal of cases.

He praised the state government for its support to provide infrastructure for the district judiciary.

"I was amazed when I learned the statistics. Between January 1, 2023, and March 23, 2024, 21.25 lakh cases were instituted in the district judiciary in Karnataka. As many as 20.62 lakh cases have been disposed of. So we are short by a few thousand... this is a performance to replicate and be emulated across the country," the CJI said.

"Privileged Pedigree Has Disappeared": Vice President's Dig At Opposition

In an apparent dig at the opposition and dynastic politics, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar today said democratic values blossom when there is equality before the law and where there is no patronage, favouritism, or nepotism.

Speaking at the NDTV Indian Of The Year awards, Mr Dhankhar said, "Democratic values optimally blossom and flourish when there is equality before the law when there is transparent and accountable governance, and where patronage, favouritism, and nepotism have no space. There was a time when these three pernicious tendencies dominated our workings. But that is a matter of the past."

The privileged pedigree has disappeared and those who thought they were more equal than the others have realised this to their pain, he asserted.

"The privileged pedigree has disappeared. Equality before the law is the writing on the wall. Those who thought they were immune to the law, above the law, are different than others, have realised it to their pain. What can be a greater pain to the human soul and the young people in a democracy that some people are greater than others and they are more privileged? That system has gone."

"In the process, the morale of the youth has gone up," he said.

The remarks are significant at a time when the country's political discourse is seeing an impassioned debate between the ruling BJP and the Opposition over parivarwaad, or dynastic politics.

Brazilian Woman Who Carried Dead Foetus For 56 Years Dies After Surgery

An 81-year-old woman in Brazil died after undergoing surgery to remove a 56-year-old foetus from her abdomen, Metro reported. The woman, identified as Daniela Vera, unknowingly had an ectopic pregnancy when she was younger and complained to doctors numerous times about pain and a bulge in her belly. She had been feeling unwell with stomach discomforts for several weeks before her doctor's appointment. Sadly, the doctors didn't spot the calcified baby inside her during the first appointment. Instead, they treated her for a water infection, before sending her to another hospital to get 3D scans.

Despite having seven children, Ms Vera's condition went unnoticed until she received the 3D scans. This revealed lithopedion, a rare condition that happens when a baby dies during pregnancy and isn't absorbed by the body, Metro reported.

The 81-year-old then went into surgery, following which she was moved into the intensive care unit (ICU). Sadly, she died the next day, on March 15 after suffering an infection.

Dr Patrick Dezir, the head of the Ponta Pora Hospital health department, explained, "When pregnancy occurs, it must be inside the uterus, but in some situations, pregnancy can occur outside".

"That baby was not clinical, the patient did not have acute pain and did not have major bleeding and this diagnosis goes unnoticed and time will take care of that foreign body that was left inside the woman's abdomen," Dr Dezir added.

Ms Vera's daughter, Rosely Almedia, said, "She was old and we are indigenous, she didn't like going to the doctor, she was afraid of the equipment to take exams. She said that it looked like a baby was moving inside her belly and sometimes she felt sick, but we never suspected that it was that".

Notably, Ms Vera had complained of abdominal pain since her first pregnancy when she was a teenager, her daughter said, as per the outlet.

Ectopic pregnancy is a type of pregnancy where the fertilised egg is conceived outside the womb, where it is not able to survive. Due to the lack of development, the foetus becomes calcified and in such a situation, there is neither severe pain nor bleeding in the body. There are also no visible symptoms until an X-ray is done.

"Shouldn't Have To Pay Higher Prices...": US vs Apple Over iPhone Monopoly

The US Department of Justice sued Apple on Thursday for illegally maintaining a monopoly for its iPhone by stifling competition and imposing exorbitant costs on consumers.

The lawsuit, also brought by multiple US states, attacked the iPhone for raking in hundreds of billions of dollars by making it difficult for consumers to switch away to cheaper smartphones and devices.

The long anticipated case against Apple sees the company founded by Steve Jobs in 1976 clash with Washington after largely escaping US government scrutiny for nearly a half century.

It joins Amazon, Google and Facebook-owner Meta which are also facing antitrust lawsuits in the United States.

News of the lawsuit sent shares in Apple down by as much as 3.75 percent on Wall Street on Thursday.

At the heart of the case is Apple's alleged exclusionary practices that set strict and at times opaque conditions on firms and developers seeking to reach the iPhone's 136 million US users.

According to the lawsuit, these rules and decisions have been designed to force Apple users into staying in the Apple ecosystem and buying the company's more expensive hardware, the iPhone.

"Consumers should not have to pay higher prices because companies violate the antitrust laws," said Attorney General Merrick Garland.

"If left unchallenged, Apple will only continue to strengthen its smartphone monopoly," he added.

Apple fights back

The far-reaching case singled out practices that it said was making Apple richer to the detriment of advancing innovation and technology for consumers.

In a statement, Apple denied the merit of the lawsuit, saying it was "wrong on the facts and the law, and we will vigorously defend against it."

If successful, the suit would "set a dangerous precedent, empowering government to take a heavy hand in designing people's technology," the company added.

The lawsuit for example accused Apple of squashing the creation of Super Apps, one-stop web portals that could exist on an iPhone and give consumers other ways to get services, such as music, photo or movies.

Other big tech giants such as Meta have long dreamed of opening such super-apps on the iPhone, which accounts for roughly half of the smartphone market in the United States.

The accusations also target Apple's wallet, which is the only application allowed on the iPhone to access the technology to make tap payments in stores, forcing others to pay a fee.

Messaging apps are under the microscope too, with prosecutors accusing Apple of making it hard for Apple users to interact easily with Android phone users, coercing them to buying the more expensive iPhone.

The broad case also mentions smartwatches, with the Apple Watch only being available through the iPhone, and competing smartwatches having very limited functionality on the iPhone.

The complaint alleges that these nefarious practices go into other services such as web browsers, entertainment and even automotive services.

In recent years Apple has invested heavily in promoting services as well as hardware as it seeks ways to make money beyond the iPhone, which was introduced in 2007 and changed the world of consumer technology.

But iPhone sales growth has been slowing in recent years, raising pressure on the company to find other sources of revenue.

The DOJ pointed out that Apple's profits exceed any other company in the Fortune 500 and that it exceeds the gross domestic product of more than 100 countries.

In 2023, Apple saw global sales of $383 billion and net profit of $97 billion.

The DOJ's investigation of Apple began in 2019 under the Trump administration.

Apple largely won a US lawsuit from Fortnite-maker Epic Games that has been pursuing Apple in jurisdictions worldwide over the rules and fees it imposes on the iPhone.

In a case brought by Spotify, the EU this month hit Apple with a 1.8-billion-euro ($1.9 billion) fine for preventing European users from accessing information about alternative, cheaper music streaming services.

"Take Stringent Action": BJP To Poll Body On Rahul Gandhi's 'Shakti' Remark

The BJP Wednesday lodged a complaint with the Election Commission against Rahul Gandhi for his "fight against a shakti" remarks at a recent rally in Mumbai, and urged the poll panel to take "stringent action" against the Congress leader and issue directions for lodging an FIR against him.

In a memorandum to the poll panel, BJP leaders Hardeep Singh Puri and Om Pathak alleged Mr Gandhi's "fight against a shakti" remarks were rendered with "malicious intention" of insulting the religious values associated with 'shakti' and creating enmity among religions to appease "some religious community".

"The statement made by Gandhi wherein he says that the fight is with Shakti was made with a malicious intention to hurt the religious sentiments of the Hindus. A large section of Hindus in India offer prayers to Shakti in Hinduism to the extent there exists a Shakti sect who refer to the Devi as Shakti," the BJP leaders charged.

"Gandhi's call to fight against Shakti in Hinduism, directly implies that the Congress supporters should fight against the worshipping deities of Hinduism, which creates hatred against Hinduism," they added.

A day after his remarks at the Mumbai rally, Mr Gandhi on Monday clarified that he was not talking about any religious power but the 'shakti' of unrighteousness, corruption and falsehood.

He accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of twisting his words and said he was speaking about the power of which Modi was wearing the mask.

The BJP leaders also alleged that Mr Gandhi made "false and mischievous" claims with regard the authenticity of electoral voting machines (EVMs) while addressing the Mumbai rally and raised questions on the Election Commission as well.

They demanded that the poll panel take action against Mr Gandhi for his remarks about EVMs, contending that such kind of "disinformation and misinformation" without verification of facts was "prejudicial" to national integration.

Mr Gandhi made such remarks about EVMs and the poll panel with an "intention to create public disorder", the BJP leaders charged.

"By raising these kinds of allegations, the Congress and Rahul Gandhi, in a way, are insulting the electorate of India. Furthermore, it is pertinent to mention that in the same event, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah blatantly denounced EVMs as a thief," the BJP leaders said in their petition to the Election Commission.

The BJP leaders demanded that the Election Commission take "stringent action" against Mr Gandhi and also "prosecute" him for his remarks.

"Take stringent action and direct lodging of an FIR and prosecute Rahul Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi may be instructed to offer an unconditional public apology and retraction for his utterances at Shivaji Park event in Mumbai," they urged in their petition.

"Issue a direction to INC and Rahul Gandhi to refrain from posting, publishing, advertising and propagating the said false information through any and all means of communication either spoken, written, audio/virtually representation or otherwise," it said.

The BJP leaders also urged the poll panel to direct social media platform X to take down the video of the event, addressed by Gandhi, and "subsequent tweets and similar tweets" on the same content by other Congress leaders.

They also demanded that the poll panel direct the platform to suspend the official handle of the Congress "for spreading fake news".

"Take cognizance of this egregious violation of the Model Code of Conduct and the Representation of the People Act, 1951 and ensure that such offences are never repeated in future," they added.

The BJP leaders said that "misinformation propagated by Gandhi, including lies about the EVM machines despite authoritative pronouncements by the Supreme Court" can have significant consequences with respect to the trust of the citizen in the election process.

"These threats are especially perilous in today's age since these falsehoods have the capacity to spread rapidly on social media, with platforms unwilling or unable to intervene, fuelling threats to election systems," they said.

Aryna Sabalenka's Boyfriend's Death 'Apparent Suicide': Miami-Dade Police

The death of former NHL ice hockey player Konstantin Koltsov, the boyfriend of tennis star Aryna Sabalenka is being treated as an "apparent suicide", Miami-Dade Police said on Tuesday. Police spokesman Argemis Colome said in an email that on Monday at 12:39 am (0439 GMT) police "were dispatched to the St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort, in reference to a male that jumped from a balcony." "The Miami-Dade Police Department, Homicide Bureau, responded and has taken over the investigation of the apparent suicide of Mr. Konstantin Koltsov. No foul play is suspected," he added.

Two-times grand slam champion Sabalenka of Belarus is scheduled to take part in the Miami Open later this week.

There was no immediate indication of whether the 25-year-old, who won the Australian Open in 2023 and retained her Melbourne title earlier this year, will continue with her schedule or withdraw from the tournament.

Koltsov's death had earlier been confirmed by the Belarusian hockey federation said on Tuesday.

"We are in mourning," the federation said on its website.

"The Belarusian Hockey Federation expresses its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and everyone who knew and worked with Konstantin."

Koltsov's playing career included a stint with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the NHL, where he made 144 appearances between 2003 and 2006.

"The Penguins extend their deepest condolences to the family and friends of former Penguins forward, Konstantin Koltsov," the team said in a statement.

He also played for Belarus at two Olympic Games -- Salt Lake City in 2002 and Vancouver in 2010 -- as well as nine world championships.

He had three children with his wife Julia whom he divorced in 2020 before he began a relationship with Sabalenka.

No Voting Arrangement So Far For Those Displaced In Manipur: Official

Thousands of Kuki-Zo community people of Manipur, who have taken shelter in Mizoram following the ethnic violence in their home state, may not be able to exercise their franchise in the Lok Sabha polls, an official said on Tuesday.

No voting arrangement has been made for these Internally Displaced People (IDPs) from Manipur till now, an Election Commission official said.

According to Mizoram Home Department's data accessed by PTI, altogether 9,196 adults and children from neighbouring Manipur have taken shelter in different parts of the state.

"A discussion is on among officials of the Election Commission to enable the Manipuris, displaced in different parts of the country, to exercise their franchise in the upcoming polls. However, till now, there is no plan to make special arrangements for them," the official told PTI on condition of anonymity.

The two Manipur Lok Sabha seats will go to polls on April 19.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar recently said that the EC has drawn up a scheme to allow displaced people in Manipur to cast their votes from the camps where they are staying.

Manipur's Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Pradeep Kumar Jha had told reporters that the scheme is limited to the state's territorial jurisdiction.

According to a tribal organisation of Manipur's Churachandpur district, the Kuki-Zo people are also staying in Delhi and other cities across the country, besides Mizoram.

In the past, the Election Commission had allowed the IDPs to exercise their franchise from the host states.

Mizoram's Bru people who fled to Tripura due to ethnic tension in 1997 were allowed to vote through postal ballots in Tripura's relief camps. In 2018, however, exclusive polling stations were set up at a village on the Mizoram-Tripura border following opposition by Mizoram civil society groups that the Bru people should not vote in the relief camps.

The Kashmiri IDPs living in Delhi have been allowed to vote from Delhi.

Of the 9,196 people of Manipur who are staying in Mizoram, 1,340 are in 26 relief camps, while 7,856 are outside relief camps, the data said.

Aizawl district hosts the highest number of displaced Manipuris at 4,446, followed by Kolasib district at 2,674 and Saitual district at 1,275, it said.

The Manipuris, who took shelter in Mizoram mostly belong to the minority Kuki-Zo community, who share ethnic ties with the Mizos.

They have taken shelter in the northeastern state since May last year due to the ongoing ethnic violence in the neighbouring state.

Lokpal Asks CBI To Probe Cash-For-Query Charge Against Mahua Moitra

Anti-corruption ombudsman Lokpal on Tuesday directed the CBI to investigate the cash-for-query allegations against Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mahua Moitra and submit findings before it within six months, according to an order.

Ms Moitra was expelled from the Lok Sabha in December last year for "unethical conduct" and has moved the Supreme Court challenging her expulsion. She has been renominated by the party as its candidate from the Krishnanagar Lok Sabha seat in West Bengal.

The Lokpal directive came while deciding a complaint by BJP Lok Sabha member Nishikant Dubey alleging that Moitra had asked questions in the Lower House of Parliament in exchange for cash and gifts from Dubai-based businessman Darshan Hiranandani.

"After careful evaluation and consideration of the entire material on record, there remains no doubt regarding the fact that the allegations levelled against the RPS (Respondent Public Servant), most of which are supported by cogent evidence, are extremely serious in nature, especially in view of the position held by her," reads the Lokpal order.

It has referred to Ms Moitra as the RPS in the order.

"Therefore, in our considered opinion, a deeper probe is required to establish the truth. This is vital in view of the position and status held by the RPS at the relevant point of time," said the order of the Lokpal bench comprising Justice Abhilasha Kumari (judicial member) and Members Archana Ramasundaram and Mahender Singh.

It said whatever be the position held, a public servant is bound to exercise probity in the discharge of his or her duties.

"The responsibility and burden are heavier on the shoulders of a public representative. Corruption is a malaise that is adversely affecting the legislative, administrative, social and economic functioning of this democratic country," the order said.

"It is a duty cast upon us and, indeed, the mandate of the (Lokpal) Act, that all attempts be made to root out corruption and corrupt practises that bring under their fold aspects such as undue advantage, illegal gain or benefit and quid pro quo in the discharge of public duties," it said.

Accordingly, "we direct the CBI...to investigate all aspects of the allegations made in the complaint, and submit a copy of the investigation report within a period of six months from the date of receipt of this order", the order said.

The CBI shall also file periodical reports regarding the status of the investigation, every month, it added.

US Woman Who Left Baby Home Alone While On Vacation Gets Life Sentence

A 32-year-old woman in the United States has been sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to the murder of her 16-month-old daughter, who prosecutors say was left home alone for 10 days while her mother vacationed. According to Fox News, the woman, identified as Kristel Candelario, pleaded guilty last month to one count of aggravated murder and one count of endangering children. She committed the "ultimate betrayal" by abandoning her daughter Jailyn without food or water last summer so she could vacation in Detroit and Puerto Rico, a judge told her on Monday.

"Just as you didn't let Jailyn out of her confinement, so too you should spend the rest of your life in a cell without freedom," County Common Pleas Court Judge Brendan Sheehan told the mother. "The only difference will be, the prison will at least feed you and give you liquid that you denied her," the judge added.

According to the prosecutors, last year in June, Candelario left her daughter "alone and unattended" at her home in Cleveland and did not return until 10 days later. "Upon returning, Candelario found Jailyn unresponsive and called the police. The Cleveland Division of Police and the Cleveland Division of Fire responded to the scene and Jailyn was pronounced deceased," the prosecutor's office said in a statement, as per Fox News

"An investigation conducted by CPD's Homicide Unit revealed that Candelario left her child alone and unattended from June 6 to June 16 to vacation in Detroit, Michigan, and in Puerto Rico. Jailyn was extremely dehydrated at the time of death," the office added.

"Jailyn was discovered in a Pack-N-Play pen on a liner soiled with urine and feces with soiled blankets," the statement read.

The mother, on the other hand, claims to have struggled with depression and other mental health issues. When given a chance to speak, she said that she has prayed daily for forgiveness. "There's so much pain that I have in regards to the loss of my baby, Jailyn," she said in court. "I'm extremely hurt about everything that happened. I am not trying to justify my actions, but nobody knew how much I was suffering and what I was going through," she said. "God and my daughter have forgiven me," she claimed.

Apple In Talks To Bring Google's Gemini AI To iPhone, Says Report

Apple is in advanced negotiations with Google to adopt its powerful Gemini AI models for the iPhone, Bloomberg reported on Monday.

The move, if confirmed and resulting in a deal, would answer one of the big questions about the iPhone-maker's AI strategy, which has been criticized as lagging its tech giant rivals.

Google's share price soared by well over six percent on the news. Apple's was up by as much as 2.5 percent.

According to Bloomberg, Apple is seeking to partner with Google for its next iOS operating system release and will likely feature on its next iPhone, expected later this year.

Apple and Google are already locked in a search engine partnership that sees Google pay Apple tens of billions of dollars every year to give the search engine a prominent place on the iPhone.

That long-running search engine deal is facing a historic lawsuit from the US Department of Justice for alleged violations of antitrust law.

Bloomberg reported that Apple had also held talks with OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, to partner on generative AI, without providing more details.

Apple CEO Tim Cook last month said there would be major updates in store on the AI front, though some observers may be disappointed that the company is teaming up with others to deliver on AI.

"For Google, any hypothetical deal with Apple could mean they essentially 'own' generative AI on mobile devices (Android + iOS)," said Colin Sebastian, an analyst at Baird.

"It also means Apple may not be in a position to catch-up to GenAI leaders, at least not in the next generation of devices," he added.

"Electoral Bond An Experiment, Done With Checks And Balances": RSS Leader

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale on Sunday said the electoral bonds is an "experiment" and it will be determined later how beneficial and effective it has been.

The RSS Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS) on Sunday re-elected Dattatreya Hosabale for the post of 'Sarkaryavah' (general secretary) for three years.

The Election Commission on Thursday released the electoral bonds data, with a number of billionaire tycoons and lesser-known entities being among the buyers.

From steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal to billionaire Sunil Bharti Mittal's Airtel, Anil Agarwal's Vedanta, ITC, Mahindra and Mahindra, and lesser-known Future Gaming and Hotel Services were among the prominent buyers of the now-scrapped electoral bonds for making political donations.

Asked about concerns being raised on the electoral bonds issue and claims that they were purchased to get favours, Dattatreya Hosabale said the Sangh has not yet discussed about it as the electoral bonds is an "experiment".

"It has been done with checks and balances and it is not that electoral bonds have suddenly been introduced today, it (such scheme) was brought earlier also. Whenever a change is introduced, questions are raised. Questions were also raised when the EVMs (electronic voting machines) were introduced," he said.

"It is natural that questions will be raised by people when new things come up. But time will tell how beneficial and effective the new system is. Hence, the Sangh thinks it should be left for experiment," Dattatreya Hosabale said.

Asked about the 10-year rule of the Narendra Modi government, he said the RSS welcomes Uniform Civil Code, adding that a resolution demanding its enactment was passed several years ago in the outfit's 'Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha'.

"It has been implemented in (BJP-ruled) Uttarakhand. We would like it to be implemented across the country. But there are certain details like succession, adoption, marriage and other issues that need to be discussed and then they can move ahead," Dattatreya Hosabale said.

People have seen the progress the country has made in the last 10 years and even renowned international experts and political thinkers have reiterated that the current century is India's century, he said.

"Something good must be happening for them to say this. Anyway, people will give their verdict on June 4 (Lok Sabha poll vote counting day)," he said.

On a query on whether the cut off date in the Citizenship Amendment Act must be extended from the current December 31, 2014, the RSS leader said it can be done by the authorities if the need arises.

Asked about the disputes pertaining to the places of worship at Mathura and Kashi, he said Hindu saints and the Vishva Hindu Parishad have raised the issue and have also said the type of agitation depends on the problem.

"What was done for the Ram Janmabhoomi movement should not be done for everything. It is not necessary. The matter is in court. If it is resolved by the court then there is no need for agitation," he added.

Hindu society will do whatever has to be done regarding Kashi and Mathura under the guidance of the religious-social leadership, Dattatreya Hosabale, who was addressing a press conference, said.

To a query on the RSS' definition of "minority", he said the concept is there in the Constitution.

"We all need to (have) rethink over it. Because, this country belongs to all and the method or idea of calling (communities) minority has been going on for decades. Those who are Hindu in the traditional sense, those who are considered as Hindus as per the Hindu Code Bill, are organized by the Sangh," he claimed.

Asserting that Muslims and Christians are considered minorities in India, Dattatreya Hosabale said, "The RSS has always opposed the politics of minoritism. The country is one and this is how it should continue is what the Sangh always says." The annual three-day 'Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha' of the RSS began at the 'Smriti Bhavan' complex in Reshimbagh area of Maharashtra's Nagpur city on Friday.

The meeting is taking place in Nagpur, the headquarters of the RSS, after six years. A total of 1529 representatives of various RSS inspired organisations attended the meeting that concluded on Sunday.

During the meeting, Dattatreya Hosabale appointed six joint general secretaries for the 2024-2027 period. These are Krishna Gopal, Mukund ji, Arun Kumar, Ramdutt Chakradhar, Atul Limaye and Alok Kumar.

BJP president JP Nadda also attended the ABPS meeting on Sunday.

Fitness Influencer, 23, Falls To Death Into Ravine While Filming Content

Fitness influencer Giorgi "Tzane" Janelidze died on Wednesday after a fall into a ravine while filming content in southern Italy. He was 23.

The accident occurred in Roghudi Vecchio, an ancient mountain village in Calabria, People.Com reported quoting Greek media outlet Ethnos. Mr Janelidze reportedly slipped and fell from a balcony with no railings.

Firefighters rushed to the spot but were unable to save the fitness influencer. Helicopters were called in due to the depth of the ravine to retrieve his body.

Mr Janelidze's friend, Chris Kogias, who was with Mr Janelidze on the trip, confirmed the death to the outlet. "Tzane is no longer with us," Mr Kogias said in a statement, adding, "Please pray with us for his soul to rest in peace."

Mr Janelidze, a Greek resident originally from Georgia, had over 100,000 followers on Instagram. His most recent post advertised protein powder he co-founded with another influencer, "Dream Greek."

News of the 23-year-old's passing sparked an outpouring of grief on social media. His girlfriend, Elena Margariti, shared a heartfelt message on Instagram Stories, calling him "the most beautiful person inside and out," as reported by the New York Post.

"With my man, my whole life," Margariti wrote, detailing their shared dreams and struggles. "So unfairly, so early. I love you so much. We will meet again. My Tzitsi."

"Think About Quitting Politics Every Day, Crazy Job": Justin Trudeau

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, whose Liberals are trailing badly in the polls, on Friday said he thought about quitting his "crazy job" every day but insisted he would stay in office until the next election.

That vote must be held by October 2025 and recent surveys of public opinion show the Liberals would be crushed by the right-of-center Conservatives. Pollster say voters are tired of Trudeau, who first took office in November 2015.

"I could not be the man I am and abandon the fight at this point," he told French-language broadcaster Radio-Canada in a lengthy interview.

Asked whether he thought about quitting, he laughed and replied: "I think about quitting every day. It's a crazy job I'm doing, making the personal sacrifices ... of course, it's super tough, it's super boring at times."

Last year, Trudeau and his wife Sophie announced they were separating after 18 years of marriage.

The Conservatives say they will ax a carbon tax introduced by the Liberals, address the government's budget deficit, tackle a housing crisis and crack down on crime.

The carbon tax is due to go up again on April 1 and Trudeau reiterated the government would not heed calls from some provincial premiers to freeze the increase.

"I entered politics not to be popular, not for personal reasons, (but) because I want to serve and I know I have something to offer," he said.

Poll Body Seeks Modification Of Bonds Order, Supreme Court Hearing Today

The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear on Friday an application filed by the Election Commission seeking modification of the operative portion of its March 11 order in the electoral bonds case.

The poll panel said the order had noted that copies of the documents submitted by it to the Supreme Court in sealed cover during the course of hearing be maintained at the office of the Election Commission. The EC said it did not keep any copy of the documents and added that they may be returned so that it can comply with the court directions.

A separate petition filed by NGO Association for Democratic Reforms challenging the exclusion of the Chief Justice of India from a panel for the selection of the chief election commissioner and election commissioners was also scheduled to come up for hearing on Friday.

However, the matter is not shown in Friday's list of business on the Supreme Court website.

A bench headed by Justice Sanjiv Khanna on March 12 had told advocate Prashant Bhushan, representing the NGO, that the plea on the exclusion of CJI from the selection panel will be taken up for hearing on Friday.

In the electoral bonds case, the Supreme had on March 11 directed the State Bank of India (SBI) to disclose the details of the bonds to the EC by close of business hours on March 12.

In its fresh application, the poll panel has said the Supreme court had observed in its March 11 order that "copies of the statements which were filed by the ECI before this court would be maintained in the office of the ECI".

"It is most respectfully submitted herein that in compliance of the orders passed by this court and in order to maintain the confidentiality of the aforesaid information /data, the Election Commission of India forwarded the documents received by it to this court in sealed covers/boxes, without retaining any copies of the same," the application said.

"Thus, no copies of the documents/statements filed by the Election Commission of India before this court in the instant case were ever retained by it," it said.

In its application, the EC has urged the Supreme that the portion of March 11 order may be rectified or modified and the documents, data or information submitted by it before the court in sealed covers may be returned to it to enable the poll panel to comply with the court's directions.

The application said pursuant to the directions passed by the Supreme Court in its April 12, 2019 and November 2 last year orders, the EC had produced information/data so sought, both in a sealed cover (containing 106 sealed envelopes) and in sealed boxes (containing 309 and 214 sealed envelopes respectively).

On April 12, 2019, the Supreme Court had issued an interim order directing that the information of donations received and donations which will be received must be submitted by political parties to the EC in a sealed cover.

A five-judge Constitution bench headed by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud is scheduled to hear the EC's application on Friday.

In its March 11 order, the top court dismissed SBI's plea seeking an extension of time and ordered it to disclose the details of electoral bonds to the EC by close of business hours on March 12.

The court had also directed the EC to publish the details shared by the bank on its official website by 5 pm on March 15.

The Election Commission put up on its website the data on electoral bonds on Thursday, a day before the deadline.
