WWF Uses Twitter Bird Logo To Highlight Species Facing Extinction

Last week, Twitter replaced its iconic bird logo with the letter 'X',  marking the latest major shift since Elon Musk's takeover of the social media platform. Twitter, founded in 2006 and whose name is a play on the sound of birds chattering, has used avian branding since its early days.

Needless to say, Elon Musk's Twitter logo rebranding has become the talk of the town, and the subject of viral jokes and memes. Now, World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), has used the rebranding of Twitter to talk about wildlife conservation.

The German chapter of the WWF created an impactful graphic that shows the evolution of the blue bird logos over the years. The post drives home the point that some animals are heading for extinction if we don't protect them.

Notably, McCann Germany, an advertising agency, collaborated with WWF to create the graphic and shared it on LinkedIn. When translated into English, the caption of the graphic reads, ''The whole world mourns the loss of the Twitter bird. Around 1 million real animal species are threatened with extinction. Today we are in the midst of the greatest extinction of species since the end of the dinosaur era. A quarter of mammal species, one in eight bird species, more than 30 percent of sharks and rays, and 40 percent of amphibian species are threatened. Help us save the animals. An initiative of WWF Germany & us!''

The text on the graphic, reads, “Protect our animal species before it's too late.”

See the picture here:

British writer Julia Hobsbawm posted this graphic on X and wrote, “Good work from a German ad agency which reads “protect the wildlife before it's too late”.

Reacting to the graphic, one user said, ''You could interpret the meaning a lot of ways. It could be covertly about free speech or it could actually be about protecting wildlife for all I know.''

Another commented, ''Join the wildlife rescue mission before these precious creatures go 'tweet-tweet' into extinction!''

A third said, ''I'd completely forgotten the bird logo was different in Twitter's early years, which in itself is a tribute to the timeless perfection of the final version. On top of everything else wrong with Elon Musk, he's a sheer cultural vandal.''

A fourth wrote, ''Another endangered species, now extinct.''

Chandrayaan-3 Leaves Earth's Orbit, Next Stop Is Moon: ISRO

The Indian Space Research Organisation on Tuesday injected the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft into the translunar orbit.

"Chandrayaan-3 has completed its orbits around the earth and is heading towards the moon," the national space agency headquartered here said.

"A successful perigee-firing performed at ISTRAC (ISRO Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network). ISRO has injected the spacecraft into the translunar orbit," it said.

"Next stop: the moon. As it arrives at the moon, the Lunar-Orbit Insertion (LOI) is planned for August 5, 2023," it added.

An ISRO official told PTI that following Tuesday's trans-lunar injection (TLI), the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft escaped from orbiting the earth and is now following a path that would take it to the vicinity of the Moon.

In other words, the spacecraft began its journey towards the Moon on Tuesday, after leaving the Earth's orbit following the TLI maneuver, which placed it on 'lunar transfer trajectory'.

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) had said it would attempt soft landing of the lander on the lunar surface on August 23.

Earlier, the spacecraft's orbit was progressively increased five times after the Chandrayaan-3 mission to Moon was launched on July 14.

Watch: Fairytale End! Broad Dismisses Carey With Last Ball Of Test Career

England beat Australia by 49 runs to win the fifth Test at The Oval on Monday and end the Ashes series all square at 2-2. Australia, chasing 384 to win, collapsed from 264-3 to 334 all out, with England's retiring paceman Stuart Broad taking the final two wickets in the form of Todd Murphy and Alex Carey.  Australia suffered a dramatic collapse in the last session, reduced to 294-8 as England's Moeen Ali and Chris Woakes ripped through their batting order at The Oval.  Rain kept the players off the field for about two hours before Australia, who as the holders have already retained the Ashes at 2-1 up, resumed on 238-3.

That still left the tourists needing 146 more runs to reach an imposing victory target of 384.

Steve Smith, dropped at leg gully by England captain Ben Stokes just before the interval, was 40 not out and left-hander Travis Head 31 not out.

The pair had extended their fourth-wicket stand to 95 when off-spinner Moeen, in what could be his last Test appearance, turned a ball out of the rough.

Head, on 43, tried to drive, with Joe Root holding a routine catch at first slip.

Australia then lost their star batsman when Smith, having completed an 89-ball fifty, fell for 54 when he edged an excellent full-length delivery from paceman Woakes to Zak Crawley at second slip.

And Australia fell to 274-6 when Moeen had all-rounder Mitchell Marsh brilliantly caught by diving wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow.

Australia's collapse continued when Woakes and Crawley combined again to dismiss Mitchell Starc for a duck and captain Pat Cummins was next to go, caught by Stokes off Moeen for nine.

Earlier, Woakes removed Australia openers David Warner and Usman Khawaja in a dramatic burst of two wickets for one run in seven balls on an overcast morning and with a pitch freshened by rain.

Express quick Mark Wood then had Marnus Labuschagne caught in the slips for 13 to leave Australia 169-3.

England pace great Stuart Broad, who on Saturday made a shock announcement he would retire after the match, took up the attack as the 37-year-old sought to dismiss Warner for the 18th time in Tests.

But it was Woakes who made the breakthrough England desperately needed when a good-length ball, angled across Warner, nipped off the seam and took the outside edge to give Bairstow a simple catch.

Warner was out for 60 and it was not long before Khawaja, the leading run-scorer in the series, followed him.

Khawaja was lbw to Woakes for 72 after being caught on the crease in front of middle and leg stumps by a full-length delivery.

Wood then squared up Labuschagne with an 86 mph (138 kph) delivery that angled in and swung away to take the edge, with Crawley holding a fine low catch at second slip.

Stokes then gave Smith, who has scored three hundreds in five Tests at The Oval, a reprieve on the stroke of lunch after he gloved Moeen.

The ball looped to Stokes at leg gully, who grabbed it one-handed above his head. But as his arm came down, his hand clipped his leg and he dropped the ball.

'Barbie Feet Challenge' Has Left Health Experts Concerned. Here's Why

The highly-anticipated movie 'Barbie' starring Margot Robbie, and Ryan Gosling which was released on July 21, is making a splash at the theatres globally. The Barbie mania is taking over, and people, companies, brands and everyone else is jumping on the pink bandwagon. The movie has also given rise to several viral trends across all social media platforms. One such trend is called the 'Barbie Feet Challenge', inspired by a particular scene from the movie.

The challenge involves recreating a scene from the movie where Margot Robbie's character slips out of her heels and stands on the tips of her toes, while her heels remain in the air. To ace the challenge, women are attempting to step out of high heels, walk on tiptoes, and maintain their feet in an arched position.

The hashtags #BarbieFeet and #BarbieFeetChallenge have garnered a combined total of over 80 million views on the platform, and search interest for “Barbie Foot Challenge” increased 2,950% over the course of one week, Foot, Ankle & Leg Vein Center reported, according to the New York Post.

Even American model Chrissy Teigen hopped onto the bandwagon.

However, health experts are now raising concerns about the potential dangers associated with the viral trend.

“Although the Barbie Arch makes a woman's legs appear longer and toner, it is not without risk. If someone attempts the pose once or twice, they will likely be ok and produce a great TikTok video. However, if attempting the pose and stride over long periods, there are some risks involved. The ankle is unstable, which can lead to ligament sprains and injuries, commonly seen with high heel use,” Dr. Jodi R. Schoenhaus told The Post.

The high-arched position of the Barbie foot could also lead to muscle and spine problems as it puts strain on the lower back. It can also damage growth plates, a warning to younger girls who are still growing, she added.

''To walk on your toes without heels isn't sustainable, and, in fact, the reality in the movie is that Barbie actually has flatfeet, along with 30% of the population. Considering we aren't trained ballerinas en pointe, let's keep the fad to movie stars who have props and multiple takes to make it look perfect,” she said further.

Notably, 'Barbie' is a live-action retelling made by reimagining the toy figurine. Everything in the film - from the costumes to the sets - is drenched in trademark Barbie pink colour.

Watch: 3 Wickets In 6 Balls! Naseem's Electric Spell Denies Noman 10-For

Noman Ali's hopes of a 10-wicket haul were dashed by an electric spell of reverse-swing bowling from Naseem Shah during Pakistan's record win against Sri Lanka in the second Test in Colombo on Thursday. Naseem struck three times in six deliveries after Noman led the Sri Lankan collapse, taking the first seven wickets on Day 4, which saw Pakistan wrap up victory by an innings and 222 runs, their biggest ever away from home.

Naseem cleaned up Sri Lanka's tail, dismissing Prabath Jayasuriya, Asitha Fernando and Dilshan Madushanka, respectively.

This came after Noman took the first seven wickets to spark a batting collapse. He returned career-best figures of 7-70 in his 15th Test to hand Pakistan their biggest Test win over Sri Lanka and fourth overall in innings victories. Sri Lanka suffered their heaviest Test defeat at home.

Earlier, Pakistan declared their first innings on 576-5 after just two overs in the morning session with a blowout lead of 410 runs.

Opener Abdullah Shafique stood out with his 201 in an innings that saw three century stands, including a 124-run partnership with Agha Salman, who smashed an unbeaten 132.

Shafique was named man of the match for his maiden Test double ton.

Salman was man of the series for his 221 runs, including a 177-run stand with double-centurion Saud Shakeel in the first match in Galle.

Factbox: Legal Troubles Of Trump Ahead Of 2024 US Presidential Elections

Here is a list of legal troubles facing former U.S. President Donald Trump, the front-runner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination. Trump, 77, denies any wrongdoing.

JAN. 6 AND THE U.S. CAPITOL ATTACK

U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland is investigating Trump's role in actions surrounding his loss in the 2020 presidential election that culminated in Trump's supporters' deadly attack on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

Trump said his attorneys met on Thursday with U.S. Justice Department officials, in a sign charges could come soon.

Trump said on his Truth Social platform that the Department of Justice had not told his attorneys when action was likely.

Officials have testified that during his final months in office, Trump pressured them with false voter fraud claims.

The federal probe is also examining a plot to submit phony slates of electors to block U.S. lawmakers from certifying Biden's victory

ILLEGAL RETENTION OF CLASSIFIED DOCUMENTS

Trump pleaded not guilty in federal court on June 13 in Miami to charges he unlawfully kept classified national security documents when he left office in 2021 and lied to officials who sought to recover them.

The trial is scheduled for May 20, 2024.

Smith accuses Trump of risking national secrets by taking thousands of sensitive papers with him when he left the White House in January 2021 and storing them in a haphazard manner at his Mar-a-Lago Florida estate and his New Jersey golf club, according to the indictment.

Photos included in the indictment show boxes of documents stored on a ballroom stage, in a bathroom and strewn across a storage-room floor.

Those records included information about the secretive U.S. nuclear program and potential vulnerabilities in the event of an attack, the indictment said.

Trump faces charges that include violations of the Espionage Act, which criminalizes unauthorized possession of defense information, and conspiracy to obstruct justice.

On Thursday, prosecutors unveiled a new indictment, which charges Trump, his co-defendant and valet Walt Nauta, and a third Trump employee, Carlos De Oliveira, with attempting to delete security camera footage at Mar-a-Lago after they were sent a grand jury subpoena for the videos in June 2022.

Prosecutors allege De Oliveira told another employee that "the boss" wanted a server containing security footage to be deleted.

GEORGIA ELECTION-TAMPERING CRIMINAL PROBE

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is investigating whether Trump and others tried illegally to overturn his defeat in that state's 2020 presidential vote. A charging decision in the criminal case is expected by Sept. 1.

The investigation focuses in part on a Jan. 2, 2021, phone call Trump made to Republican Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, asking him to "find" enough votes needed to overturn Trump's loss in Georgia.

Legal experts said Trump may have violated at least three Georgia criminal laws: conspiracy to commit election fraud, criminal solicitation to commit election fraud and intentional interference with performance of election duties.

Trump could argue that his discussions were free speech protected by the U.S. Constitution.

NEW YORK 'HUSH MONEY' CRIMINAL CASE

A New York grand jury indicted Trump for allegedly falsifying business records in connection with a hush-money payment to a porn star before the 2016 presidential election.

Trump's former personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, paid Stormy Daniels $130,000 for her silence about a sexual encounter she said she had with Trump in 2006. Prosecutors in Manhattan accuse Trump of trying to conceal a violation of election laws.

Trump pleaded not guilty to 34 counts of falsifying business records. He has denied having a sexual encounter with Daniels but admitted to reimbursing Cohen for his payment to her.

Cohen pleaded guilty to campaign finance violations and other crimes and was sentenced to three years in prison in 2018 during Trump's presidency.

The trial is scheduled for March 25, 2024.

SEXUAL ABUSE AND DEFAMATION CIVIL LAWSUITS

Trump is appealing a $5 million verdict by a Manhattan federal jury that found him liable for sexually abusing writer E. Jean Carroll in the mid-1990s and then defaming her by lying about it in 2022.

Carroll is seeking at least $10 million more in a separate defamation lawsuit she amended after Trump blasted the verdict on CNN and on his social media platform. He has denied meeting Carroll and accused her of making up her allegations.

A trial in that case is scheduled for Jan. 15, 2024.

NEW YORK ATTORNEY GENERAL CIVIL LAWSUIT

New York Attorney General Letitia James sued Trump and his family business, the Trump Organization, last September for alleged fraud by him and his family.

James, a Democrat, accuses Trump of lying from 2011 to 2021 about asset values, including for his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida and Trump Tower penthouse in Manhattan, as well as his own net worth, to obtain better terms from lenders and insurers.

The lawsuit seeks at least $250 million in damages from Trump, his adult sons Donald Jr and Eric, the Trump Organization and others, and to stop the Trumps from running businesses in New York.

A trial is scheduled for Oct. 2. James said in June that her case may have to be adjourned in light of the federal documents case.

Develop Rules To Probe 'Love-Jihad' Cases: Himanta Sarma To Cops

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday urged the police to develop a standard operating Procedure (SOP) for probing cases of 'love-jihad' in the state.

The root cause of 'love jihad' is forceful religious conversions, Mr Sarma claimed in his address to the superintendents of police at a convention in Bongaigaon.

"Besides, an act will be implemented soon in the state through which the marriageable age will be legally fixed for all communities, multiple marriages will be stopped and more legislative steps will be taken so that when arrests are made for violating the norms, the accused do not get bail," Mr Sarma said.

The chief minister has been claiming that the triple murder case in Golaghat where a 25-year old Muslim man killed his Hindu wife and her parents on Monday was a case of 'love jihad', a term used by right-wing groups to allege that Muslim men lure Hindu women to convert through marriage.

He also claimed there have been many tragic incidents of suicide by girls who have been victims of 'love jihad'.

Mr Sarma had earlier claimed on Thursday that there will be peace in the country if Hindu and Muslim men marry women of their respective communities. The chief minister told the convention that another operation to combat child marriages in the state will be launched in September and legislative backing will be given to ensure prosecution of the accused held for polygamy and child marriages.

Mr Sarma urged all SPs of the state to be prepared for more arrests in September as there will be another round of action against child marriage then.

''Whenever a child marriage comes to our notice we will have to prosecute the accused under POCSO as it is a secular Act and does not deal with any religion," he said. The POCSO Act applies equally to all citizens of all religions who commit sexual offences against children.

''There are some vintage acts that have come to our notice. We will repeal them as it comes in the way of taking action against child marriage,'' he said. Mr Sarma said crime against women in Assam has drastically come down to 14,030 cases in 2022 as against 29,046 cases in 2021, which is much below the annual average of 27,240 cases between 2017-21. Crimes against children in the state have also come down to 4,084 as against 5,282 in previous years.

High profile cases must be tried in special courts, special public prosecutors must be engaged and charge sheets must be filed within the stipulated period to serve as a deterrent in future, he added.

Opinion: Manipur Needs Healing, Today

As I write this, we have just concluded the seventh day of parliament. No sign yet of Prime Minister Narendra Modi inside Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha. The closest he has come to the chambers of both Houses is to address the media somewhere in the precincts of parliament House. The INDIA parties (preferred usage to "Opposition parties") are striving to get a discussion going in parliament on Manipur. There is one hitch. The PM does not want to participate in the debate. The INDIA parties insist he must. Hence, the logjam.

Let's leave parliament aside for a moment, and consider the footage that has surfaced from Manipur. Last week a bone-chilling video was circulated on social media. Two women from the conflict ridden state were being paraded naked by a mob of men, some of whom seemed to be teenagers.

Since then, several details have emerged. What we know so far is that this incident occured soon after the violence in Manipur erupted. That it was caused in retaliation to a piece of fake news that went viral in early May. This piece of false news showed the image of a young woman wrapped in a plastic bag. The claim was that she was from a particular ethnic group, and had been raped and killed by men from a rival group. As it was discovered later, the woman was a Delhi murder victim from 2022. The image enraged men belonging to one group, who then abducted the women who appeared in the video and revenge raped them.

It gets worse. Even though an FIR was filed days later in May, it is only after the video generated social media traction that the Prime Minister, Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani, and Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh commented on it. The Chief Minister said, "There are hundreds of similar FIRs here". Extending the apathy and inefficiency, 'South Asia's Leading Multimedia News Agency' (guess who!) put out yet another piece of fake news, incorrectly implicating a man from a minority community as one of those arrested in the case. At a time when any piece of information has the power to do irreversible damage to both communities, how can a government's actions be guided only by what's trending on Twitter.

At the root of the gruesome assault are two issues. One, the government failed to control the spread of false information that caused the rape and shameful parading of the women. In this light, the Press Information Bureau's (PIB) recent admission that it only acted upon 1,200 of the 1.2 lakh fake news requests it received in the last three years seems less shocking. Two, despite knowing well in advance, the union government failed to stop an uncensored version of the video from being circulated on social media. In response to a question by this columnist in parliament, the government admitted blocking 635 URLs on the internet since December 2021. Where was this promptness when the dignity of Manipur's women was under threat?

This case of sexual assault surfaces when parliament is in session. Multiple parties are demanding a discussion under the 'emergency rules' of parliament, given the gravity of the situation. The Prime Minister has other ideas. But if everything was so hunky dory in Manipur, then why has the internet been shut down for nearly three months? Was the internet shut down in Rajasthan and other states that the BJP draws parallels with?

The video that reached the internet is one that we know of. If previous cycles of fake news distribution are to be relied on as evidence, that single fake image might have already caused several other acts of violence. These may never reach us.

The Prime Minister's mug shots are splattered all over the country on G20 hoardings, with the tagline 'One Earth. One Family. One Future'. But before that, Manipur needs healing. Today.

''Time To Move Back To US'': Bengaluru CEO On Efforts To Register His Firm

Founder and CEO of a Bengaluru-based company, Brij Singh, on Thursday, took to X to share his experience of trying to register his company in the city. He revealed that despite two months of effort, his company registration process remained incomplete. Frustrated by the ordeal, Mr. Singh said that he is planning to move back to the US.

In his tweet, he also compared the learning experience in the Bay Area (San Francisco) to his struggles with company registration in India and cited specific reasons for his decision.

''Love Bangalore / India, but I have learned more in the last 3 days in Bay Area than I could in a month back home. Spent 2 months just trying to register a co in India & it's still not done. The problem-solution feedback loop from potential customers, Investors & even fellow founders is at a different level. The time may be coming for me to move back to the US. And I say this with a heavy heart,'' he wrote in the tweet.

See the tweet here:

As per his Linkedin profile, Brij Singh has been working in the technology and finance sector in India and the US for 18 years.

In a reply to another Twitter user, he added that he was not giving up on Bengaluru entirely was just ''stating facts.'' He acknowledged the advantages of building a company in India for a global market.

''Umm not giving up on anything. Just stating the facts. There are lot of advantages in building from India for the world as well. One must learn to leverage whatever opportunities they can to execute and compete in a global market. That is the reality,'' he wrote.

While some supported his decision, others encouraged him to try a little more and change his strategy. Some shared similar struggles.

One user said, ''Why would it take 2 months? I formed my LLP in a week. You have an issue of bad CA. Quite frankly you can register a company yourself and don't even need a CA. Takes a couple of days max.''

Another said, ''It's interesting how different environments can accelerate our learning experiences, isn't it? Your trials in Bangalore seem to have shaped you for the hustle in Bay Area, mirroring the universal human adaptability.''

A third added, ''You could perhaps ask a consultant or a CA to help you. We registered a company and all done in under two weeks. Personal views of course based on our own experiences. US / UK / EU are no match to India of today, on every aspect as per my own experience.''

Man Catches Snake, Releases It In Hyderabad Civic Body Office. Here's Why

A man allegedly released a snake in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) ward office here, resenting the "official apathy" in addressing his complaint.

The man, who is said to have caught the snake himself after it reportedly entered his house, later took it to the GHMC ward office in Alwal on Tuesday.

In a video that surfaced on social media on Wednesday, the snake is seen on a table and a man is heard saying that a complaint was given -- though the matter is unclear.

GHMC officials were not immediately available to provide details of the incident.

With rains lashing Hyderabad for the past few days, some low-lying areas in the city are witnessing waterlogging.

Asked If He Was Faced With The Question Of Nepotism, Aditya Said...

Bollywood actor Aditya Roy Kapur has been hogging all the limelight ever since his portrayal of Shaan Sengupta in the blockbuster web series The Night Manager. Now, in an interview with Filmfare, the actor has opened up about his initial days in the industry and on being faced with the question of nepotism. Talking to Filmfare, Aditya Roy Kapur said that he started in the industry by doing supporting roles hence nepotism didn't play a part in his journey as an actor.

He said, "I think people know that I have kind of made my way into the industry. I started with supporting roles in films my brothers weren't involved with. My journey has been a public one. People saw my career develop slowly. By the time I did my first leading role, I had already done three supporting parts. So I think that journey is clear for people to see."

On being asked about his auditioning experiences, Aditya Roy Kapur emphasised that rejection is a part of the auditioning process however, he noted that the process in itself was never scarring for him.

Talking to Filmfare, Aditya Roy Kapur said, "If you want to be an actor, I think rejection is part of the process. You better get used to it. The early days of auditioning were pretty much a lot of no. I used to audition for a lot of stuff but it's not like I knew for sure that I wanted to be an actor. I was an RJ and I was happy.  I was never really into films. For me, it happened by chance. I used to go to certain auditions because people used to call me now and then. And I would audition because you never know what opportunities would come. But I don't think those early years scarred me a lot."

Besides work, Aditya Roy Kapur is also trending big time with regard to his rumoured relationship with actress Ananya Panday. It so happened that, Ananya Panday watched Greta Gerwig's Barbie over the weekend and she was accompanied by the usual suspect - rumoured boyfriend Aditya Roy Kapur.

An Instagram user shared a video in which she can be seen clicking selfies with Ananya Panday and Aditya Roy Kapur from a movie hall that was screening the film. "Major fan girl moment during the Barbie movie with Ananya Panday and Aditya Roy Kapur," the fan captioned the post.

Check out the video posted by the fan here:

Over the weekend, Ananya Panday and Aditya Roy Kapur were pictured together in a car, presumably on their way to watch the Barbie movie. See the viral picture from the same night here:

Delhi Schools Report Rising Cases Of Eye Infections

Schools in Delhi have reported rising cases of eye infections lasting for three to four days on average, with some sending at least 10 to 12 children showing symptoms back home every day to check the spread of the contagion.

Cases of conjunctivitis and other eye infections are on the rise in Delhi, with many doctors cautioning that they are "highly contagious" and proper hygiene behaviour needs to be maintained to check their spread.

St Mary's school principal Annie Koshi said that children who are suffering from eye infections are mostly from class 4 to class 7 and that, they are recovering within three to four days.

"Students are recovering and coming back for classes in three to four days," Ms Koshi told PTI.

"However, we have been sending at least 10 to 12 students back home each day due to this. There are no cases of typhoid or any other diseases in St Mary's school yet," she added.

Students suffering from eye infections have been asked by schools not to come to classes until they have completely recovered. They are also being sensitised by their respective principals and teachers, the president of Delhi State Public School Management Association, RC Jain said.

Principal of ITL Public School Sudha Acharya said cases are more prominent amongst the children in the primary section.

"Students with eye infection have been missing school for 2-3 days but for typhoid and stomach infection, students are taking medical leave of at least a week. We are taking all possible precautionary measures," Ms Acharya said.

Neeru Vijh of Government Girls Senior Secondary School in Vasundhara Enclave said that more than 10 per cent of the students have been suffering from eye infections in their school.

"We are sensitising our students. Teachers are talking about this before beginning their lecture. Even though there are no cases of typhoid in our school, we get our water tanks cleaned from time to time," Ms Vijh told PTI.

Experts underline the need to carry hand sanitisers, while noting that there has been a 50 per cent surge in conjunctivitis cases in OPDs.

Sharing numbers, Dr Soveeta Rath, Paediatric Ophthalmology, Strabismus, and Neuro-Ophthalmology, Dr Shroff's Charity Eye Hospital, in Delhi, said they have observed a notable surge of 50 per cent in conjunctivitis cases in their OPDs.

"Particularly affecting children and teenagers, these cases typically present with symptoms like redness, watery eyes, discharge, and a foreign body sensation in the eyes.

"It is necessary to maintain hygiene, especially for kids who are going to school. Each kid should have a separate towel and napkin. They should avoid touching contaminated surfaces or their eyes, as the conjunctivitis virus can spread through contact," she said.

It is important that kids sanitise their hands after touching any surface and keep hand sanitisers with them, she added.

Delhi government-run hospitals are "on alert", especially related to cases of conjunctivitis, fungal infections and vector-borne diseases, Health Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said on Tuesday.

"Taken To Hilly Area...": Manipur Woman Narrates Gang-Rape Horror

As violence unfolded in Manipur's capital Imphal in early May, several people tried to escape from troubled localities. A 19-year-old tribal woman alleged as she was planning her escape and went to an ATM, she was kidnapped by a group of men. She narrated her trauma to NDTV. Women have been at the receiving end of the Manipur ethnic conflict.

The woman alleged she was taken to a hilly area, where three men took turns to rape her. She said she was hit with the butt of a gun and was not given food and water. The men handed her over to a valley-based insurgent group on May 15, she told NDTV.

"I was taken away in a white Bolero by four men. And while they were taking me away, three of them sexually assaulted me, except for the driver. I was then taken to a hill where they tortured and assaulted me," she said.

"Whatever miserable things that they could do to me, they did and the whole night I was not given anything to eat. They didn't give even water. In the morning, somehow, on the pretext of going to the washroom, I asked them to untie me. One of them was kind enough to do that and that's when I removed the blindfold and tried to look at what was around and what was happening. After that I took the decision to run down the hill and escape," she said.

An autorickshaw driver gave her a ride to safety as she hid under a pile of vegetables. The woman eventually managed to reach Kangpokpi, where she was referred to a hospital in Kohima, the capital of neighbouring Nagaland, according to her complaint filed with Kangpokpi police station. She said she managed to file the police complaint only on July 21.

Over two months since the incident, a police case has been filed of gang-rape, criminal intimidation and kidnapping with intention of murder with Porompat police station in Imphal too.

Sources said they have recorded a statement of the officer in charge of the police station she visited briefly and checked the CCTV footage in nearby areas. The police said no arrests have been made and no accused have been identified. They said they have not found any evidence yet.

Police said the investigation is going on. But the lack of evidence to corroborate her allegations is hampering the investigation. And it's this lack of evidence that the police are claiming that puts a question mark on whether women like her would get justice.

5-Tier, Reusable Graves At This Christian Cemetary Fighting Land Shortage

Sixty-four multi-tier, reusable graves have been built at a Christian cemetery in Madhya Pradesh's Indore to tide over a shortage of burial land.

Four bodies can be buried in as many layers one over the other, while the lowest tier will be kept empty for bodies to be placed after five or more years, Indore Catholic Diocese's Bishop Chako Thottumarickal told news agency PTI.

"These 64 five-tier graves have been built at the Kanchan Bagh cemetery. The work was completed on July 1. After the bodies are put in the lowest compartment, we will have space for another four bodies. The idea was finalised through consensus after we sought advice from the community for solutions to tackle a shortage of burial land," he said.

The graves are 4.5 feet wide and 6.5 feet long, with a 16-foot pit with multiple layers as well as space for headstone inscriptions, he said, adding that such an arrangement may be a first for the country.

Asked about the sprinkling of soil on the body by families and whether this tradition can be continued with the new multi-tier graves, the bishop said, "In these modern graves, flowers would be showered. Some people from our community think there is an emotional bond when we put soil over the body but with changing times, we are ready to adopt this innovation."

More such multi-tier graves will come up in three phases to allow the burial of 1,000 bodies, he said.

"The Catholic community has another cemetery in Indore's Juni area but that too has run out of space. So now burials are taking place in Kanchan Bagh. Some 100 burials take place annually here," he said.

Opposition MPs Sit On Night Protest Outside Parliament Amid Manipur Tangle

A group of opposition MPs are sitting in front of Mahatma Gandhi's statue at Parliament House in protest against disruption of the monsoon session for a third day. The newly formed opposition grouping 'INDIA' has been demanding Prime Minister Narendra Modi to give a comprehensive statement on the over two-month-long ethnic violence in Manipur.

Holding 'INDIA for Manipur' placards, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress MPs were seen holding a silent protest at 11 pm. They will spend the night there.

Earlier today, the Congress said parliament did not function for a third day because of the "continued refusal" of the government to accept INDIA's demand for a "comprehensive statement" by PM Modi in both the houses on the Manipur crisis.

Several opposition MPs had given notices for an adjournment motion to discuss the situation in Manipur.

The opposition wants a debate allowing all parties to speak without any time restrictions and has been holding protests on the issue since the monsoon session started on Thursday.

The government has accused the opposition of running away from a debate on the all-important issue and has questioned their seriousness towards it. The opposition has also accused the government of the same - i.e. running away from a debate.

Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge alleged the government is being insensitive. "Our demand is that the PM should come to the house and make a statement. We are ready to discuss that statement. You are speaking outside but not inside, this is an insult to parliament. It is a serious matter," he said.

BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi accused opposition leaders of running away from a debate and also questioned their "silence" on issues of violence against women in other states, days after a video was shared on social media showing two tribal women being paraded naked in Manipur.

Union Minister Prahlad Singh Patel said the opposition should not make excuses.

"The PM has already made a statement on Manipur with sensitivity and firmness ahead of the (monsoon) session. It is wrong that we didn't start the discussion (on the Manipur issue in parliament) at all by making an excuse in the name of the PM," Mr Singh said.

Harmanpreet May Get 2-Game Suspension, Likely To Miss Asiad Matches: Report

Indian women's team captain Harmanpreet Kaur could well miss first two games in the upcoming Hangzhou Asian Games on charges of equipment abuse and public criticism of match officials after the tied third ODI against Bangladesh on Saturday. Harmanpreet was adjudged leg before off a Nahida Akter delivery while trying to sweep but she claimed that she got a bottom edge and in a fit of rage shattered the stumps before walking back to the pavilion.

Later at the post match presentation ceremony, she termed the level of umpiring as "pathetic" and also sarcastically asked the umpires to be called to join the teams for trophy ceremony.

Her boorish behaviour had prompted Bangladesh skipper Nigar Sultana to walk away with her team and urge her Indian counterpart to learn some "manners".

"There is still some deliberation going on whether she should get three demerit points or four as there are two charges -- match equipment abuse and criticism of match officials.

"In case there are four demerit points in a space of 24 months, you either miss a Test or two limited over games -- in this case first two games of Asiad. In case, it is three, then she will only cop financial penalty," a senior BCCI source told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

The charges against Harmanpreet has been pressed by ICC international panel match referee Akter Ahmed, who is also from Bangladesh.

Both teams were locked at identical score of 225 and three-match ODI series ended in a 1-1 draw.

"Chief Minister Would Have Been In Jail If...": Sacked Rajasthan Congress MLA

Former minister and Congress MLA Rajendra Gudha on Sunday said he had saved Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot from trouble but was removed without being given an opportunity to explain himself.

"If Rajendra Gudha was not there, the chief minister would have been in jail," he claimed at a programme in Jhunjhunu district.

Speaking to media persons, he claimed that he had secured a "red diary" on the directions of the chief minister during a raid by the ED and Income Tax Department against Congress leader Dharmendra Rathore.

"The chief minister called and asked me to retrieve the 'red diary' at any cost," he claimed, without going into details of the diary's contents.

He claimed the chief minister had repeatedly asked him if he had burnt the diary and added the CM would not have done so if there was nothing incriminating in it.

The BJP latched on to his statement to target the ruling Congress in the state.

"Rajendra Guddha makes sensational disclosure about a Red Diary that contains the alleged black deeds of Congress- Gehlot Govt.

"Will those who know the truth about the black deeds of corruption and women atrocities now answer about this?" BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla tweeted.

Gudha, who held charge as Minister of State for Sainik Kalyan (Independent Charge), Home Guard and Civil Defence, Panchayati Raj and Rural Development, has been targeting Gehlot following his sacking on Friday evening, hours after he cornered his government in the Assembly over the issue of crimes against women in the state.

Addressing the programme in Jhunjhunu on Sunday, Gudha said he would have resigned had the chief minister asked him to do so.

"If you had asked me to resign, I would have resigned...you should have called and given a notice," he said.

He said that judges also give a chance before taking action.

Gudha, who is among six MLAs who won the 2018 assembly election on a BSP ticket before defecting to the Congress in September 2019, was inducted as a minister in November 2021.

They had supported Gehlot in July 2020 during his tussle with his then-deputy Sachin Pilot. However, in the last few months, Gudha has made statements in favour of Pilot.

US Sisters Sue Funeral Home For Burying Stranger In Their Father's Grave

Two sisters in the US have filed a $60 million lawsuit against a pair of funeral homes after the wrong man was allegedly buried in their father's grave, New York Post reported. As per the lawsuit, Stacy Holzman and Megan Zaner have accused Fletcher Funeral and Cremation Service in Fountain Inn, S.C., of mistaking another person's remains for their father and placing the wrong body in his burial clothes.

Notably, Clifford Zaner died of heart failure at his South Carolina home on February 25, at the age of 72. He told his family that he wanted to be buried in black jeans and his favorite Led Zeppelin T-shirt.

After he died, his body was supposed to be shipped to New York. However, the wrong man was sent and then buried in their father's favourite clothes. The sisters noticed something was wrong when they asked to see their father one last time.

“I knew something was wrong the day of the funeral. There were red flags when we viewed the body, huge red flags. The first thing I noticed when they opened the casket was no mustache… The first thing I saw was just a bare upper lip, and I couldn't stop focusing on that,'' Stacy Holzman the Daily Beast.

He also had stitches across his forehead, indicating that an autopsy had been performed, while Mr. Zaner hadn't undergone any such procedure.

The Star of David Memorial Chapel funeral home insisted that the body belonged to Ms. Holzman's father and assured them that they received the correct body from Fletcher Funeral Service, according to the lawsuit.

“We deeply regret any sorrow experienced by the family for the mistake made by the funeral home in South Carolina,” the funeral home said. It also stated that “families are under a great deal of stress when they identify their deceased."

However, after three weeks, the funeral home informed Mr. Zaner's family that there had indeed been a mix-up. A second funeral with the correct remains was then held in Jacksonville, on March 24, but without his favourite T-shirt.

The sisters, meanwhile claim to have not received a refund for the first funeral with the Star of David that involved the wrong remains.

The family is hoping a $60 million lawsuit will send a message.

"I want them to take responsibility for this horrible mistake. And I do want things put in place in the future, which I think should have been there, from happening to anybody else,'' Megan Zaner said.

Woman "Kidnapped" By Family From Husband's Home, Rescued By Delhi, UP Cops

The Delhi Commission for Women, along with Delhi Police and Uttar Pradesh Police, rescued a 22-year-old woman who was allegedly abducted by her family from her husband's in Delhi, the women's body said on Saturday.

In June, Firdaus Khan, one of the commission's members, received a complaint from an Amroha-based woman who said she had married a man in May this year of her own accord against her family's wish, the DCW said in a statement.

She told the DCW member that since she feared for her life, she had run away from Amroha and come to Delhi with her husband.

The commission helped the woman file a complaint with the Delhi Police. However, she refused to take any legal action against her family members at that time, the statement said.

On Friday, the commission received a call from her husband who said some men from her family had come to their house, and beat her up and forced her to go with them.

After the incident, a case was registered at Harsh Vihar Police Station and a team of Delhi Police was dispatched to Uttar Pradesh to go to the woman's house, the statement said.

Afraid that police were involved, the woman's parents allegedly left her at Gajraula Police Station in Uttar Pradesh at night.

Police collected the woman from the station and brought her to Delhi for a medico legal exam. The commission is counselling the girl and providing her legal aid, read the statement.

"We received a call regarding the abduction of the woman by her own family. Our team acted swiftly and with the help of Delhi Police and Uttar Pradesh Police, the woman was rescued within a few hours and brought to Delhi," DCW chief Swati Maliwal said in the statement.

"We will provide all possible support to the girl. Further action should be taken against the family members so that they don't dare to harm the girl in the future," Ms Maliwal added.

Video: Short Circuit Causes Huge Fire At UP Police Station, 4 Cops Injured

A building inside the premises of a police station in Meerut was engulfed in a fierce fire this evening. Four constables have sustained severe burns in the fire at the crime inspection building inside the police station in Meerut's Sardhana.

A cloud of thick black smoke billowed skyward and was visible from several kilometers away, the locals said. More than half a dozen fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the flames.

According to the initial investigation, the fire originated from a short circuit in a switchboard inside the police station. It rapidly spread to the balcony, which houses a canteen. The fire's intensity was such that it led to the explosion of gas cylinders in the canteen. The inferno quickly engulfed the surroundings, including a warehouse nearby.

"The flames have been doused. However, some of our officers suffered severe burns to their hands and faces while trying to put out the fire. They have been rushed to the hospital for medical attention, and those with less severe injuries are also receiving treatment," Senior Superintendent of Police, Rohit Singh Sajwan, said.

Diagnostic Errors Kill Hundreds Of Thousands In US Each Year, Says Study

A recent study revealed that almost 800,000 Americans suffer from misdiagnoses each year, which is a worrying indicator for the US healthcare system.

According to a study that was conducted by scientists at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and released this week, misdiagnosis of disease causes about 371,000 fatalities and 424,000 permanent disabilities, such as brain damage, blindness, the loss of limbs or organs, or metastasized cancer, every year.

The researchers write in the report that just 15 diseases account for about half of all serious harm, so the problem may be more tractable than previously imagined.

"Diagnostic errors are, by a wide margin, the most under-resourced public health crisis we face," said Dr. David Newman-Toker, director of the Johns Hopkins Diagnostic Excellence Centre.

The top five most often misdiagnosed illnesses were lung cancer, sepsis, pneumonia, venous thromboembolism (blood clots in veins), and stroke, which together accounted for 38.7% of all cases of misdiagnosis.

"These are relatively common diseases that are missed relatively frequently and are associated with significant amounts of harm," Dr. David Newman-Toker, a neurologist at Johns Hopkins University, told CNN.

He led the study's research team from the Johns Hopkins Armstrong Institute Centre for Diagnostic Excellence, in partnership with researchers from the Risk Management Foundation of Harvard Medical Institutions, Inc.

Djokovic's Father Hits Back At Journalist Over "Loser Of All Time" Post

Novak Djokovic's father has hit back at a journalist who labelled the 23-time Grand Slam champion as the 'loser of all times' following the defeat to Carlos Alcaraz in the final of Wimbledon last week. In the final, Djokovic was chasing unprecedented mark of a 24th Grand Slam in Open Era, but the top speed Spaniard Alcaraz came from a set down to outlcass the second seed in five sets. The defeat to Alcaraz was Djokovic's 12 in a Grand Slam final, the most among any player in men's singles tennis.

After the final, a Montenegrin journalist used the stat to take a swipe at Djokovic.

"Loser Of All Time". What did you do to him, Carlitos? So many illegal crazy volleys, slices and bombs that should be banned. And to inflame so much anger among lumberjacks who don't even know how to count games, but know enough to curse a 20-year-old boy who amazed the world? How many shepherds will stop watching tennis and cry in anguish on my wall? The Spaniard has given Novak a new nickname. LOAT, as many as 12 lost finals, the most in the Open Era, he is the 'loser of all times'," Nebojsa Sofranac, a Montenegrin journalist posted on Facebook.

Sofranac comment, however, didn't go down well with Djokovic's father, who slammed the journalist for the same.

"May God help that man. If he can even be helped, and if he really means everything he wrote," Srdjan Djokovic, Novak's father, told Serbian outlet Republika in an interview.

Notably, Djokovic overtook Roger Federer and Ivan Lendl as the player with most defeats in Grand Slam finals.

UK Woman Wanted To Put Down Her Dog Because It "Barked At People"

An animal rescue centre, Lucie's Animal Rescue in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, said that a woman wanted to put her two-year-old dog to sleep because it barked. Lucie Holmes, who runs the centre was earlier contacted by the woman, she asked if she would take her dog Markus, but she had to turn her away because the centre was full.

Ms Holmes received a call from a local vet two hours later and was informed that the owner had wanted to euthanise Markus citing its barking. The vet refused the request to euthanise the dog.

Ms Holmes in an interview with BBC said, "It's disgusting. I have not been able to sleep much because I am still so angry. Dogs bark. It's what they do."

"I told the owner there was absolutely no need for Markus to be euthanised. He needs time and training," she said.

Ms Holmes and her husband Sean took Markus in despite already sharing her home with nine other dogs and 34 kittens, which are also looking for a home.

Ms Holmes in a lengthy post on Facebook shared about the incident. She wrote, "His owner contacted me to ask me to rehome him, because... 'He barks at other dogs and people when out so needs rehoming 'Marcus is a 2-year-old patterdale x Labrador. He had been owned by said owner for... 5 weeks. He's just settling in, learning his new environment and family, and at only 2 years old he will be rather overwhelmed as well as adjusting to everything new. Barking is how dogs communicate, and express their fears, and also excitement. When I asked his owner what training she had been doing with Marcus to help him overcome his possible nervous behaviour, the answer was 'he's had none'. I explained I am full at the moment but I will let her know when I had room to fit him in."

She added, "2.5 hours later I receive a call from a vet practice. Marcus had been taken to the vet to be EUTHANISED. Put to sleep. To end his life, because his owner could not be bothered to put any time or training into him. Thankfully, the vets refused and called us. They spoke to their behaviourist while they were there, and offered the owner sessions to help Marcus- the owner declined. Killing him was the easy way to end her problem. So, of course, with fear the owner would then just go to another vet and put him to sleep- I made room. I don't have room, but I'm not having it. Marcus has been with us for less than half an hour. He has sat, and taken a treat very gently. Has met 6 dogs- enjoyed a sniff and his tail hasn't stopped wagging. He hasn't barked yet."

In her post, she also urged people to think carefully before getting a dog, "Too many people are getting pets without any consideration to the time they need to adjust, and expecting them to be 'perfect companions' without actually putting anything into them. Take some responsibility and invest time into them, you chose them to be part of your family. Stop destroying them just because you cannot be bothered to help them. It's not their fault. You are safe Marcus, and loved. You will never be treated so badly again, and that I can promise."

Swedish Embassy In Baghdad Attacked, Set On Fire: Report

Hundreds of protesters stormed the Swedish embassy in Baghdad in the early hours of Thursday morning and set it on fire, a source familiar with the matter and a Reuters witness said.

The source said no embassy staff had been harmed and declined to elaborate further. Swedish embassy officials in Baghdad did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The protest was called by supporters of Shi'ite cleric Muqtada Sadr ahead of an expected burning of the Muslim holy book, the Koran, in Sweden - which in the past has led to widespread protests and condemnation in Muslim-majority nations.

A series of videos posted by One Baghdad, a popular Telegram channel that supports Sadr, showed people gathering around the embassy around 1 a.m. on Thursday (2200 GMT on Wednesday) and storming the embassy complex around an hour later.

Later videos showed smoke rising from a building in the embassy complex. Reuters could not independently verify the authenticity of the videos.

It was not immediately clear if anyone was inside the embassy at the time of the storming.

2 Killed In New Zealand Shooting Ahead Of Women's World Cup

New Zealand's prime minister said a shooting that killed two people in central Auckland hours before the women's football World Cup opener Thursday was not linked to a national security threat and the tournament will go ahead as planned.

The shooting at a building site wounded six people including police officers and left the gunman dead. It coincided with the opening day of the tournament co-hosted by New Zealand and Australia.

Prime Minister Chris Hipkins expressed shock and "deep sorrow" at a rare mass shooting in New Zealand, but said the tournament would proceed as planned.

The "assessment from officials is that there is no national security risk. There is no change to New Zealand's national security threat level."

"Aucklanders and those watching around the world can be assured that the police have neutralised the threat and that they are not seeking anyone else in relation to the incident," he added.

"The government has spoken to FIFA organisers and the tournament will proceed," he said. "New Zealanders safety, and the safety of our visitors, are our first priorities."

A number of national soccer teams are based in New Zealand's largest city, including the US squad, which said in a statement that all its players and staff were accounted for and safe.

"The offender has moved through the building site and continued to discharge his firearm," police acting superintendent Sunny Patel said earlier.

"Upon reaching the upper levels of the building, the male has contained himself within the elevator shaft and our staff have attempted to engage with him," he added.

"Further shots were fired from the male and he was located deceased a short time later."

Police said two deaths had been confirmed so far, in addition to the attacker.

Officers responded in "significant" numbers to the morning shooting and cordoned off the area, police said, also deploying a helicopter.

Local media showed images of an injured officer being helped into an ambulance.

"What has unfolded is understandably alarming and we are reassuring the public that this incident has been contained and is an isolated incident," Patel said.

"We can also advise that this is not a national security risk."

Police asked people to stay away while they investigated the emergency.

Mass shootings are rare in New Zealand and sweeping gun laws were introduced after the 2019 Christchurch mosque massacre, in which 51 Muslim worshippers were killed and another 40 wounded.

"Inhuman, Spoke To Chief Minister": Smriti Irani After Manipur Video

The shock video of two Manipur tribal women being paraded naked that was widely circulated online, sparked outrage on social media today. Among those condemning the assault was a lone voice from the BJP - Union Minister Smriti Irani, who is usually vocal on women's issues.

"The horrific video of sexual assault of two women emanating from Manipur is condemnable and downright inhuman. Spoke to Chief Minister N Biren Singh ji, who has informed me that investigation is currently underway and assured that no effort will be spared to bring perpetrators to justice," read the tweet from the Union Minister.

Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh has confirmed to NDTV that Ms Irani has spoken to him and the Chief Secretary on the horrific incident of rape. She has been assured of speedy action against the perpetrators of the crime, he said.

The Indigenous Tribal Leaders' Forum (ITLF) said the atrocity took place on May 4 in Kangpokpi district, around 35 km from state capital Imphal.

"The despicable scene, which happened on May 4 in Kangpokpi district, shows the men constantly molesting the helpless women, who cry and plead with their captors... The horrifying ordeal suffered by these innocent women is amplified by the perpetrators' decision to share the video, which shows the identity of the victims, on social media," read a statement from the organisation.

The Manipur Police said the women were paraded naked by "unknown armed miscreants and the investigation has been started".

"A case of abduction, gang-rape and murder was filed at Nongpok Sekmai police station (Thoubal district)... The state police is making all-out efforts to arrest the culprits at the earliest," read a statement from the Manipur Police.

The opposition has slammed the silence from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and alleged inaction on part of the state and central governments.

Congress's Jairam Ramesh and Trinamool Congress's Derek O'Brien have demanded a statement from PM Modi in parliament.

Congress's Rahul Gandhi tweeted, blaming PM Modi for the situation in Manipur.

"PM's silence and inaction has led Manipur into anarchy. INDIA will not stay silent while the idea of India is being attacked in Manipur. We stand with the people of Manipur. Peace is the only way forward," his tweet read.

Ethnic violence broke out in Manipur on May 3 after Kuki tribals organised a solidarity march to protest against the Meiteis' demand for Scheduled Tribes status. More than 120 people died in the violence since.

Indian-Origin 7-Year-Old Schoolgirl Wins UK PM's Points Of Light Award

An seven-year-old Indian-origin schoolgirl, who started volunteering for a United Nations' sustainability initiative against microplastic pollution when she was just three, has been awarded the British Prime Minister's Points of Light award.

Moksha Roy, who received the award from Deputy British Prime Minister Oliver Dowden last week, has the distinction of being the world's youngest sustainability advocate.

Moksha has been recognised for volunteering for several sustainability campaigns, including raising funds to help children in need.

"Moksha has set an excellent example in her work championing UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She has gone to significant lengths to have these included in the school curriculum and has been in communication with leaders all over the world to encourage them to consider this," said Dowden.

"Her school no longer uses plastic glitter, confetti or plastic art supplies - this is a testament to her strong beliefs and ability to change those around her to create a better world," he said.

Moksha has also assisted in educational sessions for deprived schoolchildren in India.

"I am very happy to receive the Points of Light award. I hope both children and adults get to understand that caring for the planet and its people and making small changes to everyday life should not be just for a few. It is just like brushing our teeth," said Moksha.

"We brush our teeth to care for them and avoid pain; similarly we can take care of the planet not for anyone else, but just us, to be safe. Each and every one of us can do small things in our own lives, work and community to combat the big challenges such as climate change, pollution, poverty and inequality," she said.

Her parents, Ragini G Roy and Sourav Roy, said their daughter's efforts prove that even the youngest in society have a role to play in combatting climate change.

According to Downing Street, the Points of Light awards recognise outstanding people whose service is making a difference in their communities and whose story can inspire others towards innovative solutions to social challenges in their own communities and beyond.

ICC Shares Picture Of SRK With World Cup Trophy. Fans Can't Keep Calm

The International Cricket Council (ICC) took to social media to share a picture of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan with the ODI World Cup trophy and fans were sent into a frenzy. The caption accompanying the picture read - “King Khan #CWC23 Trophy It's nearly here …". India will host the ODI World Cup in 2023 between October 5 and November 19 with ten teams taking part in the prestigious competition. India will start their campaign against Australia on October 8 and the Rohit Sharma-led side will take on Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 15.

The opening match will see last edition's finalists -- England and New Zealand -- to get the tournament underway. But there remain quite a few mouth-watering clashes in the league stage.

While the Indo-Pak encounter is arguably the biggest from the schedule in the round-robin stage, Australia's face-off with South Africa on October 13 in Lucknow is also a big one. The Aussies will be hoping for a reversal of fortunes as a dramatic meeting in the last edition ended in the Rainbow Nation's favour.

Pakistan, a team that will understandably be in the spotlight, will face Australia in Bengaluru on October 20 while England have been scheduled to take on South Africa the next day in Mumbai.

India would look to avenge their 2019 World Cup semi-final defeat against New Zealand on October 22 at the picturesque Dharamsala while Australia are to face England on November 4 in Ahmedabad.

"NCP Integral Part Of NDA, Will Work Together In Future": Praful Patel

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Praful Patel who had earlier attended the opposition meeting in Patna last month, was present at the NDA meeting in Delhi on Tuesday along with Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

Soon after attending the meeting Praful Patel said that NCP is an integral part of the national Democratic Alliance and his party will work with the NDA in future.

"I and Ajit Pawar were present at the NDA meeting today along with 38 political parties. NCP is an integral part of NDA. In future, NCP will work with the NDA," he said.

"38 political parties were present on the occassion of the 25th anniversary of NDA. From our side Ajit Pawar presented his views at the meeting," Mr Patel added.

Earlier on Monday, after having rebelled from the Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party, Praful Patel met the NCP Chief and said that a request was made to the veteran leader to keep the party united, but he refrained from commenting on the issue.

Praful Patel along with Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and Sunil Tatkare visited Sharad Pawar at YB Chavan Centre in Mumbai.

While addressing the media, he said, "Ajit Pawar, Sunil Tatkare and I met Sharad Pawar at YB Chavan Centre. We again requested him to keep NCP united, and he listened to us but did not say anything about it."

Praful Patel further stated that they met Sharad Pawar to seek his blessings. "Sharad Pawar did not invite us even today, we had come to meet Sharad Pawar to seek his blessings," he said.

In a surprise move on July 2, NCP leader Ajit Pawar took oath as Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister along with eight other party legislators also joining the NDA government in the state.

"What If Sholay Was Made In Hollywood?": This AI Video Will Surprise You

Sholay is the one feature film that has been considered the all-time favourite entertainer of the Hindi audience. Every scene, song, and action sequence in this movie has cemented a place in the hearts and minds of the audience.

This movie continues to stand out even today in every way. From 'Kitne aadmi the?' to 'Ghadi ghadi drama karta hai', the witty lines are carved in our memories.

The world of social media memes came much later after the release of the film, but still, this film tops the chart when it comes to making spoofs and memes about any Hindi film.

The movie Sholay is becoming more and more popular as a subject for reworking, especially in this age of social media's creative image producers and the gradual emergence of artificial intelligence.

Recently, an AI artist tried to create Sholay characters in a different format, replacing them with Hollywood actors, and it has become as popular as the original film memes.

"What If Sholay Was Made In Hollywood?" is the caption that Reddit user u/ShadyKaran used when posting this video.

The post was 95% upvoted on the Reddit platform.

Several users left interesting remarks in the comment section.

"Kevin Spacey plays psychopaths best. Baldev Singh, alias Thakur, was a straight-forward man. That is a miscast there; probably Gene Hackman would have suited, commented a user.

Debating whether Sholay was inspired by a Hollywood film, another user commented, "Sholay was loosely inspired by the Spaghetti westerns by Sergio Leone, mainly from For a Few Dollars More and The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. The main villain character Indio from FAFDM is almost similar to Gabbar; there is a laugh scene as well."

"My Home's In Manipur": Olympian Mirabai Chanu Urges PM To Restore Peace

Olympic medallist weightlifter Mirabai Chanu appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to bring an end to the ongoing conflict between two communities in her home state Manipur at the earliest.

Manipur has been witnessing ethnic clashes between the Meitei and Kuki communities since May 3. Over 150 people have been killed in the clashes so far.

Ms Chanu, currently training in the US, said athletes in the northeastern state have been affected by the conflict as they can't train amid the ongoing violence.

"The conflict in Manipur is going to complete three months but peace is yet to return. Many players have not been able to train because of this conflict which has also hindered the studies of several children. Many lives have been lost and many houses have been burnt," Ms Chanu said in a video on her Twitter handle.

"I want to appeal to the Prime Minister and Home Minister to bring an end to this conflict as soon as possible and save all the people of Manipur and bring back peace which was prevalent earlier."

Ms Chanu, who won a silver medal in 49 kg weight category in Tokyo Olympics, said she could not stop herself from thinking about the situation at home despite being far away.

"I have my house in Manipur though I am currently training in the USA to prepare for the upcoming World Championships and Asian Games. Even though I am not in Manipur, I always think about when this conflict will end," she said.

Ethnic clashes erupted in the state on May 3 when a 'Tribal Solidarity March' organised in the hill districts to protest against the Meitei community's demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status turned violent.

Meiteis account for about 53 per cent of Manipur's population and live mostly in the Imphal Valley, while the tribals, including the Nagas and the Kukis, constitute 40 per cent of the population and reside mostly in the hill districts.

Video: Men Tease, Approach Herd Of Elephants, Internet Reacts

In a terrifying event, four men narrowly avoided a dangerous scenario after attempting to get close to a herd of wild elephants. In the video shared by Indian Forest Service officer Susanta Nanda, a group of tourists can be seen approaching a herd of elephants inside a forest.

The video shows an elephant crossing a street, with a few calves in the group. The tourists can be heard making peculiar sounds with their mouths. The noise startled the elephants and the elephants increased their speed, in fact, one of them even tried to charge towards the group. Realising that they are in mortal danger, the men also tried to flee the scene.

Mr Nanda posted the video along with a stern warning. He wrote, "Ridiculous crowd behaviour. An elephant herd with a young calf can be highly aggressive. Don't put your life at stake. Allow them safe passage. They have the first right."

See the video here:

Since being posted, the video has amassed nearly 40,000 views on Twitter and netizens demanded strict action against the group of tourists.

A user commented, "They shud be arrested and prosecuted for such behaviour...one question do they do the same when they see families around."

"Sir, please some action to put these guys behind bars," another user commented on Twitter.

"They are very sensible to subsonic, sonic and ultrasonic sounds. Such noise can be extremely annoying for them, especially for young ones," the third user wrote.

"Need strict action against these irresponsible people," the fourth user commented.

"Absolutely ridiculous. Strict Action against those miscreants can change the situation," the fifth wrote.

"Unke Saamne Aate Hi Meri...": Yuzvendra Chahal On His Bond With MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni's large fan following is not new to anyone. The 42-year-old cricketer, who is considered as one of the finest captains in the world, guided Team India to three major ICC trophies under his leadership. Dhoni is widely popular for his calm and composed nature and his awareness on the field. Apart from his regular fan base, the Chennai Super Kings skipper is also admired by other cricketers itself and veteran India spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is one such example.

Chahal, who made his international debut in 2016 during an ODI series against Zimbabwe, is known for his hilarious antics both on the ield and off the field. However, in a recent interview, the leg-spinner revealed that whenever he is in front of Dhoni, he automatically keeps his mouth shut.

"He is only person, unke saamne aate hi meri bolti bandh ho jaati hai [I am tongue-tied in front of him]. I don't speak a lot irrespective of the kind of mood I am in. I just sit still and reply only if Mahi bhai asks something. Otherwise, I just keep quiet," Chahal said in an interview with Ranveer Allahbadia.

The 32-year-old spinner shared a story where he had conceded 64 runs against South Africa in a T20 match in Centurion and how Dhoni showed trust and comforted Chahal during his "off day".

"We were playing a T20 match against South Africa in Centurion. For the first time, I was hit for 64 runs in four overs. [Heinrich] Klaasen was hammering me, so he asked me whether I would bowl round the wicket. I said okay, but then Klaasen hit me for a six," said Chahal.

"I was walking back when Mahi bhai came to me and told me, 'aaj tere din nahi hai, koi baat nahi' [Today is not your day, it's okay]. But he told me that the five balls that I have left, I should try and not concede a boundary on those as that will help the team. From that experience, I realized that even if you have an off day, you can still support the team," he added.

Chahal has played 72 ODIs and scalped a whopping total of 121 wickets. He has also played 75 matches in T20I and scalped 91 wickets. Apart from international cricket, he has also played 145 IPL matches and took 187 wickets, with the best figures of 5/40.
